Rental Car or taxi?

We will be traveling in September with 2 other families. We discussed going to Walmart the first day to pick up a few groceries. We do not need transportation the rest of the trip due to MYW package. One family wants to do the taxi, says its cheaper. The other 2 families want to rent the car from one of on sight rental places for one day, says it safer & cleaner.

Concerns:
1) 3 moms in taxi with groceries? Sounds scary to me.
2)$$$? Don't want to spend alot!
3)Waiting for taxi to drop off and pick up from store?

What about having groceries delivered? I believe that Gooding's has a delivery service.

you could use gardengrocer.com and have it all delivered to your room!
there is a small delivery charge for orders under $200.00 but if you all put your order together you might come in over that amount.
Even if you don't I think the delivery charge would be less than the cost of a taxi.
