Day 12 –Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Our original schedule was to spend the day at Animal Kingdom, but since we spent a good portion of Monday at AK, DH has inquired if we should switch the days’ plans and go to Magic Kingdom instead. DS isn’t too keen on this idea (missing a last ride on Everest & Kali just isn't possible), ;) so I decide to try and please them both. I thought everyone understood what the plan was . . .

First off to AK early entry, where we FP Everest and hit Dinosaur. I am going to be brave today, and agree to go on Primeval Whirl since it’s a short wait. They should call this the rib cruncher, as both DH and I think we’ve broken a few! All in all, though, I think I made more hullaboo in my brain about this than was really necessary. I actually have a good time on it, as does DS. On to Kali, where DS gets soaked AGAIN – it’s like a wall of water washes over him – and then of course back to Everest to fulfill our FP. Once done, I urge the guys through the park (against the grain of the regular arriving crowd) and out the exit. We’re going to bypass FotLK, Nemo, Camper Mickey and a few others this year at AK – which is ok. We’ll catch them next time around! We are back out of the park and to the car by 9:30 – I figure we can still get to MK in time to hit a bunch of stuff before it gets crowded. In hindsight, we should have stayed at AK for awhile – DS is upset that we’re leaving so early (last day at AK = upset), and DH tells me after we’ve gone that he doesn’t like the idea of park-hopping like this so early. Ooops, that’s what I get for trying to make everyone happy! Now everyone’s GRUMPY!

Anyway, we return to WL, park, go upstairs to get the chipped mug from LTT, and take the boat over to MK. Security isn’t going to let me in the gate with a glass mug, but I explain the situation to them (and show them the receipt that we paid for it) & they allow me in. We grab a FP for Space Mountain (broken down), then head to Liberty Tree to get another mug. They exchanged it without problem, and I take this opportunity to do a bit of extra shopping in the Xmas store around the corner for some things we saw while waiting the rain out the other day. They gladly ship the mug back to WL with our purchases so we don’t have to lug it around all day. Yay!

Everyone’s mood is improving :mickey: (thank goodness), but the MK seems very crowded. We decide to see The Country Bears Jamboree, as this is one thing we’ve never gotten around to doing with DS. Ugh. Whatever I remember from our honeymoon wasn’t this! That’s all I’ll say about it! We fly on the Carpets of Aladdin, then check in on the Tiki Birds. We also climb the Swiss Family Tree House – DS doesn’t remember this, and DH & I joke around that DH carried him up the last time he was in this attraction! Honestly – due to bad note taking and lack of pictures taken at the MK after the treehouse, I cannot recall everything we did today. I’m certain that we also rode BTMRR (FP), Space Mtn (FP), Pirates and TTA. I also remember that the crowds were making many attractions prohibitive, and it was a bit frustrating to navigate the park, especially since we arrived late. We vacate MK around 2:00 with the plan to return this evening after our Whispering Canyon ADR. I also believe we received a storm in the afternoon, which closed the pool down. Shame on me for missing the details!

Our Whispering Canyon ADR is for 5 pm, so we get downstairs with a few minutes to spare. We continue to search for the Hidden Mickey in the fireplace until our buzzer goes off a few minutes after 5 – we still haven’t found it! Gino Casino is our server, and is really a hoot. Merriment and great food are had by all – and of course DS does the Pony Express again. However, remembering how stuffed we got the last time we ate here, none of us order dessert this time around. DDE Savings is $16.08. We finish dinner around 6:30, and realize it’s raining outside. After giving it a reasonable amount of time to stop, we decide not to travel to MK tonight. DH is getting a sore throat,:( and I’m doubting that they will be showing Spectro & Wishes due to the steadiness of the rain – which is the real reason we wanted to return this evening.

Not all is lost, however. We run back up to the room, get Kyle’s Hidden Mickey book, and start going from floor to floor looking for them. Some of these are a real challenge – and the one in the fireplace is STILL eluding us! All of us enjoy the challenge, and stay out wandering quite late. We have a thought to go down to the dock to see Wishes if it’s being held and the Electric Water Parade, but it really is raining hard enough that none of us are interested. We do see a bit of Wishes from one of the hotel windows while on our Mickey hunt – but it’s not the same without the music!

Our hope is that MK will be a bit less crowded tomorrow. We have lunch ADRs at Tony’s (a new experience) and our second dinner at LeCellier, so it should prove to be a great day. It’s hard to believe that we only have two nights left. We want to make the most of them! :mickey:

I'm glad you were able to exchange the mug! Country Bears? I always say that is 17 minutes I will never get back (DS3 liked it, however). There's always something to do when Hidden Mickey's are about!
