This time we'll put up a Magic Kingdom nighttime show up against the one it replaced. Is it Spectromagic or Main Street Electrical Parade?

This is the second question posted today. The previous one is in Vacation Planning, in case you missed it. I'll try to post another question on Saturday. That one will also be in Vacation Planning.

Looks like I need to get to work on the review of questions 71-80. I suspect a few of those are still open, so it'll probably be late next week.

We really loved MSEP when it was here. It is far superior to Spectromagic in MHO. I like the music and the lights much better. It is a true Disney Classic.

I voted for SpectroMagic because I like the music better and for some reason I was really excited to see this parade when I was younger. I've seen both.

MSEP!!! When I was a CM at DLR, I loved going to setup and do "guest control" during the parade! I LOVE the music.

Best part of "guest control" (my station was always right by the matternhorn) was watching the looks on the faces of all the guests when the introduction music starts and the first float comes into view. That definately one of the most magical parts of being a CM for me.

I love both, but I'm a traditionalist and sometimes I really miss MSEP.

I was really hung up on this one. MSEP as DLR is the best parade I've seen but it didn't work quite as well in WDW. The floats are smaller (in height) than Spectromagic and seemed scaled perfectly for the smaller DL. Spectro seemed better scaled for the taller WDW so, since this seems to be about WDW I went with Spectro.

Main Street Electrical Parade!! It was the first of its kind and a classic! Nothing will ever compare or take its place!:mickey: I can still remember the elation I felt as a child and then again in 2000 when I I heard "Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Disneyworld proudly presents....The Main Street Electrical Parade!:D

MSEP for sure...somehow it seems more magical to me. I get goose bumps when I hear the music!

MSEP Definitely! :cloud9: I loved it--the music, floats, everything. I have the song on CD and still get goosebumps when it comes on. :blush: I wouldn't miss Spectro but I was really disappointed when they changed. :(

I've got to go with MSEP, since it is more traditional to me. Is it just me or do some of the faces on the characters (the ones that look like clowns - OR something - not sure what they are supposed to be) creep anyone else out?

Spectromagic is good. In fact, it's very good! But, it's not as good as the Main Street Electrical Parade! :mickey: There's just not quite the same excitement! Oh, how I miss it!

Main Street Electical Parade. It's a true WDW classic. Just thinking about the music and Mickey on top of his float gives me the chills.

Both Parades are great, but there is something rather infectious about the MSEP music that I can't explain. It was the highlight of our 1999 trip. :mickey:

well i just went to youtube and watched MSEP, i think my vote is still for spectro. I know that a video probably can't do it justice, but I didn't really enjoy the music in MSEP, and I love spectro's music.

MSEP - it reminds me of being there as a child in the 70's and one of my all-time favorite photos. It was a double exposure (back when this would happen accidentally and not from photoshop) that was a profile of me watching - amazed - and the float that said Electric Light Parade.

Having never seen the MSEP live, I decided to go on YouTube and watch it. I wasn't really that impressed. Maybe you have to be there live but I can tell you that I find the synthesized music to be dated and kind of annoying. I mentioned in a previous thread that this music played in over and over in a video game I used to have and maybe I've just heard it way too much to appreciate it? I dunno. But I just love SpectroMagic. The music is soothing and beautiful and as it's name implies, it is truly spectacular.

MSEP is my favorite Parade of all time. We have a VHS of it as well as a DVD and soundtrack.:number1:

I love both but I have to say MSEEP! It's the original and evertime I hear that song it makes me think of being on Main Street!

I really like both of the parades, but I honestly was really young the last time MSEEP was here and I grown very fond of Spectromagic. They are different and great in their own ways.

MSEP for the music and the whimsy. I love Spectro too, but it isn't quite as charming, in my opinion.
