I'm a "resort" kind of guy. :D

Having done both, I have to say on-property at a Disney resort is the best. Just the feeiling of being immersed in the Disney "magic" all day is worth it. Plus, there are many other perks that are extended to Resort guests only.

I can't imagine NOT staying on property. It is great to just totally submerge yourself in the magic! And there is also the added excitement of "Will our car start after sitting still for so long?" when you get ready to head home.

Agree with post above!! I would not think of going to Disney and not staying on site. It just offers and adds so much:thumbsup:

So far I'm the only one who stays off site. My reasoning...
1.) 5 in my party it seems difficult to find something between value and deluxe
2.) short stays we aren't in town more than 3 days. We usually drive in for a couple of days and spend the rest of our vacation at the beach relaxing.
3.) comfortable in how we do things. If its not broke...

HOWEVER, We may be doing an official Disney vacation this fall. I may be back here in a few weeks trying to figure out all there is to know about staying on property.

Now that we are DVC owners, we will NEVER stay off property again! Period.

No contest - between the convenience and the savings via things like DDP, free transportation/parking, etc, I'll never stay offsite.

Another on-property vote for me! Since I live in Tampa it would be pointless for me to drive to WDW and stay in a non-Disney hotel. Stay on Disney property is 1/2 the fun!:mickey:

Can't imagine going to WDW and staying off site. It has been done, and I would do it if I had to, but hope not!:mickey:

We have never stayed off property...we are there to enjoy the magic 24/7 :cloud9: We never even leave Disney property...tried to convince my family once to take a day off and go to Universal - no way!

We actually do both each year. We are a family of 5 and it's very hard to get reservations that will accommodate all 5 of us without getting 2 rooms , which can also be very expensive. We rent a house about 10 minutes away for 10 days and we then stay on property for 4 days! It has worked out well for us and this way we get to enjoy the best of both worlds!:cloud9:

I can't imagine going to Disney without staying onsite. There are just to many conveniences on property.

Done both. On property is the only way to go for us. Too many advantages to name.

Done both. On property is the only way to go for us. Too many advantages to name. Same here. If you stay off site and don't have a car.... you are at the mercy of the bus service the hotels provide. I'd rather walk than ride that bus again. :D

On property for me! I like parking my car and not getting in it for a week after driving from New Orleans. I also like getting my room key that allows me to purchase whatever I want and having one bill in the end.

I have stayed off site. Hopefully, never again! I cannot imagine not being inside the Disney magic 24/7!!:mickey:

My DH & I love Disney Resorts because we park once and ride through-out our entire trip(unless we leave to go to the grocery store for snacks)

Having done both, you can not beat on-site. After the wait for the off-site’s “free” buses, I will never do it again :shake:. The transportation is just one of many advantages of staying on-site. I also like how I get into and stay in the Disney mood when staying at a DW resort.:mickey:

I think you lose so much staying off property. I would never. I like to stay close and use Disney transportation.

I knew this vote would be a landslide. However, having done both, we prefer to stay offsite because we have full kitchen, washer/dryer and living in our spacious room for same price or cheaper than value resort. We actually prefer to drive our car--much easier to get to the different resorts for meals and such, which we love doing, and to go to Universal/Sea World/Beach or wherever else we're going.
Staying on property was magical when we did it--loved the theming the entire time, but the convenience and price of offsite is better for us. If I was ONLY doing Disney parks for a few days, I'd stay on site. But for the longer trips that involve other Florida activities, I love the convenience of offsite.

Disney resort for sure I can't seem to tear myself away from the magic when I'm not in WDW (ie. Intercott) never mind when I'm there!!!

I voted for on-site. Granted, I'm biased- I've never even stayed off-site! I can't imagine going to WDW without staying in one of the on-site hotels. In fact, I just changed my August hotel from Shades of Green to CBR because I didn't feel SOG was "Disney" enough!

That said, I do understand the reasoning behind many people's decisions to stay off-site. For some people, it works better for them. More power to them!

ALWAYS onsite. It isn't the same experience if you stay in a hotel miles away from everything. It is worth the extra $$.

I would never stay offsite. Staying in a Disney resort is a big part of the Disney experience.

Ive done both and to be honest ..I prefer off site .I can see the attraction if you have a family for the disney resort but if you havent its nice to get away from the theme and be alot more indpendent in the night . Also the offisite rooms tend to be a bit more value for the same money you spend at a resort ....

Onsite Disney hotel always. When I was younger we stayed offsite a few times and after that first experience onsite, never again!! If we couldn't stay onsite I don't know if I'd want to go... I mean, it's just so much of the magic!

All we've ever done before is drove and stayed off site (my cheapo Dad insistes that this is cheaper than staying on site and he's afraid to fly!) Since he's not going this trip we're flying and staying on site at a deluxe (mom's idea! :thedolls:) to make up for lost time! After hearing about all the advantages and finally being able to make my dream come true I can't imagine going back to off-site!

on site for us..driving would so not add to the magic for our family. It's the big factor for us.
