Year of 100 Questions: #65

You're going through the parks and all of a sudden it starts raining like crazy and you've got no raingear. You pop into your friendly Disney gift shop, and the ponchos magically appear. In the old days, they were yellow and you'd see a sea of yellow walking around. Now they're clear. Which do you prefer: yellow or clear?

I'll try to post at least one question this weekend, possibly two. Q66 will be in Dining, Q67 in Vacation Planning.

Time for me to start working on the review of questions 51-60. I know there's still a couple of those that are still open, so it'll be posted sometime next week.

I went with clear just because I ususally identify the people I'm with by what they're wearing and clear makes that easier! :thumbsup:

yellow. makes the park look more crowded and people tend to leave to go back to their resorts.

I guess I don't really have a preference, but if I have to choose one or the other, I'll go with the clear ones. Makes it easier to identify your party if you get separated.

I understand the yellow ponchos are a Disney tradition, but the clear ones are so much more practical.

I had to vote for the clear ones, because we can drape it over the double stroller and the kids can still see somewhat.

Otherwise.... I do like the yellow ones. On a rainy day, its funny to watch the progression of the percentage of people wearing ponchos.

I remember one year at DLR, started the day, kind of misting and no one was wearing them. as the day progressed, the rain got eavier. We went on a ride and when we got off, about 10% of crowd was wearing them. Got on another ride, got off the ride and about 1/3 were wearing them. By mid afternoon, over 80% were wearing the yellow mickey poncho's. It was a crack up.

Another vote for the clear :mickey: ponchos. The yellow ponchos are just a bit overwhelming in large numbers. I also feel the clear make it easier to find your party an identify people; 1,000s of people all in yellow standing together :crowd: in the rain :rain:, just a little hard to pick out the ones that belong to you!

It really doesn't matter to me - I generally don't bother with a poncho (though I do have a cool orange one from years back)....

I voted for the clear, though - it's more versatile, you can wear it with any color shoes! LOL :laughing:

Although we don't bother with the ponchos, we just get wet, I have to vote for the clear, at least then we'd be able to find each other in the sea of matching ponchos :)

I voted for the clear ones only because the yellow make it seem like there are so many more people and they all look the same:confused: With the clear ones everyone is a little bit different because of what they are wearing underneith them.:mickey:

I voted for the yellow Mickey ponchos because I had a childs size one when I was a kid and then when we got them when I was older we were at the Animal Kingdom so they had that logo on them, not the yellow one, and I wanted the yellow one not taupe. I wish they had both. We will probably buy a couple in September because I hear tell it rains a lot then. Every trip DH and I have taken together so far we've brought our cheap coleman fold up into nothing ponchos and have never used them. I'd like something durable though. So I voted yellow but since all they seem to have these days is clear, we'll still probably buy those anyway.

I picked yellow - I don't if they truly are - but seem sturdier and "held up" better somehow. :confused:The clear ones got tears in them quicker. But like them both - Keep you dry and have :mickey: on them!!!! Will be probably wearing one soon!

I voted for clear for 2 reasons:

1) It's easier to spot someone in your party due to the clear coats

2) The color of the yellow ones remind of the rain slickers that fisherman wear (minus the rain slicker hats) :sail:

We have the yellow ones but only because that is what we could find. When my children were small and yelled mom it seemed like every mom in the park turned around because you could not tell which child was yelling because everybody was in yellow. At least with the clear ones you can see you child and know who is yelling Mom. :mickey:

Clear! the last time we were there we went in to buy 2 and ended up 6. the next day we left them in the car and it rained again! we had to buy MORE. We came home with 10. we now keep them in each ar and in the kids stroller.

I kinda like the yellow ones! It also seems to me that they were a little higher quality! they seemed to last a little longer but maybe thats just me!

You are so right. I remember very clearly our very first park day of our first visit. We woke to rain. So luckily I had brought our own ponchos - thank goodness none of them were yellow! I couldn't believe all the yellow! Here we were in Epcot with DS's 4 & 6 & a sea of yellow. I would have been stressed about keeping up with each other if we blended with the rest!:paranoid:
