First Week of January???? Worried

We will actually arrive on January 1st. I know that Christmas time is crowded, but do the crowds thin out quickly or is the whole first week of January crowded?

Crowds begin to thin after Jan 1. They don't drop to non-existent that first week, but they are certainly manageable.
