paying in advance

Does anyone know if it's possible to pay some of the hotel costs in advance by check and NOT mess up the reservation? What happens if you cancel? I believe I have a 6 day time period to cancel since I don't have a package.

You can definately make payments without messing up your reservation. If you booked through Disney, you should have gotten an statement in the mail from the Walt Disney Travel Co outlining which resort you booked for what dates and who's on the reservation. With that should be a page that tells you where to mail payments by check.

This is only for regular mail. There is a different address for overnight courier mail. You are correct that you have until 5 days before arrival to cancel since you are booked room-only. If you do cancel, they will mail you back a check for any money paid.
