Disney Dollars & Downtown Disney

I believe I heard recently that many of the non-Disney shops and restaurants at Downton Disney accept Disney Dollars and gift cards. Is this true? Is it maybe required in order to be in that location? Maybe just a good idea to do so...? Your thoughts...

Disney Dollars can be spent anywhere on Disney property - stores, restaurants, even to pay for your hotel. I start stocking up as soon as we decide on a trip, so I have plenty of spending money by the time we go and it doesn't "hurt" as much (not to mention that you can't "borrow" it before you go and forget to pay it back).

The only places that don't accept the Disney Gift Card (per the DGC website) are the Richard Petty driving experience, McDonalds at DTD, Rainforest Cafe at AK and DTD, and Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk.
