Are you referring to the Dinner Add-On available for the party?

If so, here is some info.

From Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (http://www.intercot.com/discussion/../infocentral/holidays/christmas/mvmcp.asp)
Special "Dinner Add-On" is available at The Liberty Tree Tavern (menu (http://www.intercot.com/discussion/../infocentral/dining/menus/magickingdom/libertydinner.asp)) & Tony's Town Square (menu (http://www.intercot.com/discussion/../infocentral/dining/menus/magickingdom/tonys_dinner.asp)).

Guests wishing to use meals from their Magic Your Way with Dining Package, Magic Your Way Premium Package or Magic Your Way Platinum Package may do so, however admission to the Special Ticket Event is not included as part of the package. The Liberty Tree Tavern Dining Reservation add-on is available 5:00pm-9:00pm and the Tony's Town Square Restaurant Dining Reservation add-on is available 6:00pm-8:30pm each night of the party.

I don't have the meal plan, but read somewhere there was a plus to eating before the party... just can't remember what the plus was, haha/??? Wishes is at 6pm that night... so is it so you don't have to leave the park???

You don't have to have the Disney Dining Plan to use the Dining Add-On for the party.

The above note is just to the effect that one can use a Dining Plan Credit towards the reserved meal.

I think some Guests like to eat at the park prior to the party just so they are 1)already in the park when the party starts and 2) don't have worry about grabbing a light meal from a Counter Service location during the party when they could be enjoying a special activity.

Maybe another INTERCOTee will know better what "advantage" you are speaking of.

We did Tony's before the party last year. I would prefer to eat before the party b/c I don't want to take time from the party activities as mentioned  I'm not sure I would do it again. It depends on my planning at that time. We had my parents with us and they were not attending the party but spending the day in the park with us so we had dinner before they left.
Remember too that the party has a special wishes so if you are at dinner before the party you will see wishes (a different party wishes).
If can usually enter the park earlier than the party- I think it's just to enjoy the festivities, can't miss the snow on main street.
