I just wanted to let everyone here know- We have been booked for our dining reservations for August since we booked our trip April 9th. We are going from Aug 20-31. We just found out our friends are joining us the second week for free dining so I tried to change our Ohana's reservation to that second week. The CM informed me that the only availability they had for that week at Ohana's was at 9:15 pm. She also informed me that they are about 80% booked throughout "the world" during the week of August 26-31! I was in disbelief! Can you believe it?

I can believe it. Free dining + not all schools are in session yet = lots of vacationing families.

I would keep calling to see if you can get a better time.

Will mid to end September be that booked up for dining as well? I would rather rethink my ressies than spend a lot of :coaster: time waiting to :eat:...Of course, we do enjoy eating but I have only tried one or two TS restaurants and would be willing to try some that might not be as popular.

With free dining, I am shocked that they are only 80% booked!

The busiest months at WDW are July and August. Mainly due to Floridians... that's true. The week after Labor Day, attendance drops like a hot rock. Sept, Oct are the best months to visit. Trust me on this one

Last year when we were down the Tom Joyner Family Reunion was there for Labor Day weekend. They had booked by my guess, most of Coronado Springs for their meeting. That could be why there's no dining available. Just a thought that there maybe another big convention down there that is also using the parks.

I can believe it and I am hoping that when I arrive Sept 4th that it will be cleared out and everyone is headed back to school. We were originally going in Dec. but when the free dining hit, I changed to Sept.

You can always show up that evening and see if you can get in. We went one evening without ressies and were told the wait was an hour long. We were seated within 10 minutes. No guarantee but they will try to accommodate you.

I believe it! I too am going that week (Aug 25 - Sept 1). Luckily, I had made my ADR's prior to the announcement of free dining so I was able to get LeCellier, Hollywood&VIne Fantasmic, Askerhus Princess Breakfast, and Donald's Breakfastosaurus at great times. I needed to add a couple of TS and ended up with 4:00pm dining. It was either that or 8:50 and with a 4 year old the 8:50 was out of the question. How can you complain when it's free dining though;) I think I will just go knowing I will probably have to wait. That way there is no disappointment.

Keep calling. With everyone making ADR's in advance, there are bound to be some times opening up as people change things around.
I know we've already changed a few of ours.

Not surprized really. I think it has to do with the free dining. The last two weeks of August is considered value season so it is usually less crowded then the other summer weeks. A lot of schools have started although some like us up here in New Jersey don't start until after Labor day.

I would keep on trying give a call and see if maybe someone has cancelled. Good luck! We will be there the same time. 8/25 thru 8/30.
