What is the quickest route from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness? Are there any launches you can take across Bay Lake to get there or do you have to use the bus system? (We will not have our own car.) Thanks!

A boat will take you right there from the CR marina.

Just make sure to double check the color of the flags on the launches. I can't remember what they are specifically, but they'll have a diagram at the CR marina. One color takes you to FW and the other to the MK. It's really convenient.

There are launches that travel to FW directly from the Contemporary. They're actually a lot of fun to ride and I always recommend to friends staying on that side of the property to take a ride in the early evening if the weather is nice.

Bit of advice to save you some time: watch where the boat is coming from before you get on. They have two launches that make the route: one going clockwise and the other counter-clockwise. So if both boats are within sight and heading towards the Contemporary, take the one that is coming from the Wilderness Lodge. Obviously if only one boat is around hop on that one though.

There are only two boats that go dock at the Contemporary and they go to the same places. Basically, one boat goes Contemporary – Wilderness Lodge – Fort Wilderness and the other goes Contemporary – Fort Wilderness – Wilderness lodge. To get the most direct to FW, get the boat coming from Wilderness Lodge. :mickey:

Thanks for the info everyone! Do you know if these launches continue year-round? And do they stop running at night? (We will be there in December and want to attend Hoop Dee Doo at 7:15 pm when it's dark that time of year.)

The launches generally run from 7:15 AM until 10:00 PM. You should be fine if you are attending the 7:15 PM Hoop-Dee-Doo show.
