Magical express question

My friend and I want to go to Daytona beach before the WDWR.

We would fly into MCO, then grab a rental car to Daytona beach for three days, drive back to MCO and take MAgical express to WDW.

Would this work, even though we are not going directly to WDW? When we take Magical Express, it will be the day of check in, because I know that matters...

As long as you are checking in on the day your are using Magical Express, I believe it would work.
