From my brief research, there is only about 30sq.ft. difference between Cat. 4 and Cat. 6. However, there is a $400 or so difference on the quotes I received for our 3-day trip in May 2008. It seems that all of the Cat. 4s are located on Deck 8. The Cat. 6s are on lower decks. What is the difference between the decks?

If there is an advantage on being on a higher deck, that may persuade me to go with a Cat. 4for our upcoming trip.

Cheers. :mickey:

It's closer to 40 square feet, with most of that in the "living room" area of the stateroom. It's to accomodate the pull down murphy bed for the 5th guest. If you only need sleeping arrangements for 4, then that's just all extra floorspace.

I guess location might matter to some people. If you spend a lot of time on deck in a lounge chair or at the pools, having a stateroom one deck below is pretty convenient. No need to even take the elevator (which is tiny by the way).

If you decide to book a category 6, my advice is to try to get something on deck 6. The verandahs are alittle bit bigger here. Rooms to avoid in that category are 6588 (across from the laundry room), 6144-6154 and 6644-6654 (have solid railings instead of the clear plexiglass).

For category 4, avoid 8036-8044 and 8536-8544 (noise from Goofy Pool/deck parties). 8092-8094 and 8596-8598 have the solid railings as well.

If you are Aft on deck 8 you are closer to the free beverage station. We find it easy to run and get a quick drink. Also easy to get to TopSiders in the morning.
