Another inhouse question today. Port Orleans is divided into two resorts: French Quarter and Riverside. Which do you prefer? And if you've never been to either, which would you pick?

Q16 will appear in Dining, most likely on Monday.

Also, early next week will be the review of questions 1-10. I'll post a link in the regular question...

Have a great weekend!

I haven't done either, but whenever I look at POFQ it reminds me of my favorite land in all of the Disney Univese -- New Orleans Square in DL! So that got my vote. Gotta love hearing that Jazz music without actually having to be in New Orleans.

Riverside is our favorite resort. We stayed there back when it was still Dixie Landings, since then we have tried other resorts (Allstars, Coronado, Etc...) and always go back to Riverside.

Never stayed at either but the French Quarter seems to be slightly more interesting.:secret:

I've stayed at them both and they are both really nice. POFQ is my favorite, I like the smaller size:thumbsup:

Funny you should ask. Except for pictures, I haven't even seen either of these two resorts. However, in the initial planning of next year's trip it came down to these two, and after much studying, we have decided to go with PO Riverside. I suppose circumstances could change that, but as for now, it has my vote.

I went with Riverside. The reason is I stayed there with a bunch of college friends when it was Dixie Landings. We had a blast at the resort. Since we did not need bus transportation, there was no issue. I think FQ wins with its compact size and first bus stop.

Headed to POR in Sept.!!:mickey: Gotta love it!!

We stayed at Riverside once and enjoyed it very much. I've always liked the look of FQ, but it was closed in 2001 when we stayed at POR. We won the trip from a radio station, promoting tourism after 9/11. There were also no boats running to Downtown Disney at the time. It was still really nice, lovely grounds.

POR for us. There are so many choices as to location-seclusion or not, more rustic or less, and I love the look of it with the huge trees and shady park-like areas around some of the buildings. Stayed at POFQ a time or two and it is fun and nice, too but my preference is POR.

Going in 4 days!!!!:cloud9:

I've never stayed at either one, but went with FQ just because I like the looks!!

I picked POR for one reason-- trundle beds. We have 3 kids over age 3, so that's our only option.
Without all the kiddos, though, I think I'd prefer FQ.

Haven't stayed at the FQ yet but the Riverside is beautiful!!

Well, when I was younger and my parents were looking into our first onsite visit, my vote was for Dixie Landings, so I guess I would still like to stay there one day. We ended up at CBR and since then I've also stayed at OKW and Pop Century. I'm a huge fan of Mark Twain, so the style of the place appeals to me.

I voted for POR. I think it is the most serene resort in the World. I absolutely love it there!

Had to choose POR. Stayed there our last visit and it was just absoutly beautiful while walking around the grounds.

POR is very serene and it feels very grown up. The subtle Disney details really sold me on the resort. When I booker our last trip, I had requested FQ and they were full, and I was initially disappointed, but I loved POR!

We really, really liked POR when we were there in Jan, even though the foodcourt was closed. However, nice as it was, it seemed a little too spread out for us. We're trying POFQ in Sept, and I suspect that'll be our new favorite place. The smaller size is very appealing, and I think DD will really love the pool. If we want to go to Boatwright's for a nice meal, it's not that far of a walk (or wait for a boat!).

FQ, reminds me of home :D

Plus I like the smaller size and being the first bus stop

I would want to pick the French Quarter. I love New Orleans French Quarter. So that's what I voted for, but I would actually have to stay at Riverside because we have 5 in our party and need the trundle.:mickey:

Wow, this is neck and neck. I voted POFQ even though I have never stayed at either. It looks like such a fun atmosphere and a beautiful resort. I'm looking forward to trying it some day.:mickey:

Riverside (Aligator Bayou, specifically), without a doubt. I love how peacful it is and the fact the it has Boatwright's, not to mention the piano player at the River's Roost!

These are the exact reasons I would pick Riverside as well. DH & I enjoy stopping at the River Roost to unwind at the end of the day and prefer a shorter walk back to our room. :D

I chose French Quarter. I haven't been to either, but we looked into it a couple of years ago and we liked the decor of French Quarter the best.

I voted for POR for two key reasons:
(1) POR can accomodate five people
(2) POR has the piano man

POR (Dixie Landings) was the first resort we ever stayed in at Disney when just doing Disney and not as part of a cruise package. It holds a soft spot in my heart.

Riverside is the next best thing to a Deluxe Resort. It has beautiful grounds with lots to do. It has a great main pool, plus many quiet pools close to the rooms, and the rooms themselves are very nice and relatively good sized. Plus you have the option of the food court or a sit down restaurant, not an option a the French Quarter. It is my family's favorite moderate resort!

I picked POR, but really it's a tossup! We've stayed at both... I like POFQ's size and the grounds are gorgeous, but for some reason POR stood out more. I didn't even mind the sort of long walk to our mansions from the bus stop... it was beautiful!!

I'll be at POFQ this September... like I said, I love both of them!

I have had the pleasure of staying at POR and l highly recommend it. That said, I did vote for POFQ only 'cause I would love to see what that resort is all about. But I think you can not go wrong choosing either one of these resorts. They are :cloud9:

We've stayed at POFQ and love it!! Just the right size - no long walks to anything. And the atmosphere is just beautiful. POR is just too darn big for my taste.

This was a very hard choice, we've stayed at both, and I loved both.

POR was beautiful, I love the quiet pools, and the sit-down restuarant (and the piano player), but I just can't get over the size. We stayed quite close to the main building, but it could be quite a hike!

I chose FQ, we stayed there last year, and it was perfect. The small size, a great pool, and DH loved the theming, and DD loved Scales. We're planning to go back to FQ next year.

Either way, a great resort!

I've never stayed at either but i've heard really good things about FQ. I heard they have a really good slide at the pool.
