Apr. 15, 1972 – Lou Romano, the voice of Bernie Kropp in the 2004 Disney/Pixar animated feature “The Incredibles,” was born.
Apr. 15, 1973 – “The Walt Disney Story” (sponsored by Gulf Oil), was a film narrated by Walt about the history of Walt Disney, and was a free attraction at that time when ride coupons were still in use, opened on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom at WDW. (Closed Oct. 5, 1992)
Apr. 15, 1975 – WDW’s “Flight to the Moon” attraction closed in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom. (It would be replaced by “Mission to Mars.”)
Apr. 15, 1983 – The Disney Theme Park “Tokyo Disneyland” opened in Urayasu, just outside of Tokyo.
Apr. 15, 1997 – Disney’s comedy series “Soul Man” premiered on ABC. (Ended Aug. 25, 1988)
Apr. 15, 1998 - Bill Nye, The Science Guy opened at Innoventions East as the same show from that was at Innoventions West.
Apr. 15, 1999 – Taxpayers put the “fun” in refund by filing their taxes at Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island. A certified U.S. Postal Service drop box postmarks tax returns right up until the midnight deadline, and a team of IRS representatives offered last-minute tax tips. Guest dropping off their tax forms at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island received a special admission price of $10.40.
