When we eat at Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time, can me and mom order one entree and share it? Neither one of us are very big eaters and it would be cheaper on us since we will be pay out of pocket instead of using our credits. Will the CMs let us do that or is it frowned upon?

I'm not 100% sure if you can now, but I shared some meals with my mom in 2002. I'm sure someone will come around to answer your question. But If your paying out of pocket I'm sure you can. I know you cant with the DDP. Just make sure you get something big enough to feed two. Enjoy! :mickey:

It depends on who you ask. Very very consistently now, if you ask Disney, they will say that "sharing is not permitted on the Dining Plan." However, as far as I know, every restaurants is waiving that rule for its guests. So ask at each restaurant; you'll likely be pleasantly surprised.

If you are paying out of pocket it should not be a issue, we do it all the time.

All of the servers at Disney World bent over backwards to accommodate our requests... splitting shouldn't be a problem.
If you're not big eaters, some of the portions for CS meals are HUGE and you might want to plan on splitting some of those, too.

TS restaurants with a menu (not served family-style or buffet) will allow sharing as long as you are not on the dining plan. Just ask nicely!

We've gone in places as recently as last october an dshared meals- usually if I just ordered and appetizer and he got an entree, the waitstaff would just run it thru as 1TS- we've always found everyone very gracious. :mickey:

Is there a missing comma? I know Disney celebrates diversity and all, but a 14 year old DH?

Honestly, I don't see what difference it makes if you share (outside a buffet type meal) whether you're on the DDP or not.

We did not have a problem sharing meals on the DDP in January. We just advised the server that we would like to split a meal and they happily obliged.

:number1: Make sure you offer up a little extra tip since the server is working for two.

Good advice! A reasonable extra tip to cover when you're two diners sharing one meal is between $3-$4, at most 1TS restaurants.

I would also say that adding in an extra gratuity is the proper thing to do. After all they are depending on our tips to make a living.

I highly recommend it. My wife and I split everything on our last trip, from appetizers to desserts. Doing that allowed us to have desserts that we would have been way too stuffed to have otherwise.
