I won't fit. Just let me know when I take possession... er, I mean, need to start babysitting your avatar. Oh, and how do you take your coffee? I have the to-go cup ready for you!

Jenn, when's your departure?

Jasper

I'm sorry your back's been hurting you... are you feeling better now? I'm guessing since you just took the roof off Ken's house that that's a yes... are you going to install skylights??

The doctor allowed me to increase my amount of pain medication on a short term basis which is helping some.

I still haven't decided on whether to put in skylights or let it go au natuaral. If we leave them open he will never have to worry about cleaning them plus when it rains he gets an indoor water feature! Everyone wants an indoor water feature, don't they?

You start babysitting my avatar in exactly 20 hrs, 39 minutes. take good care of him...he is special. Sigh...

As for my coffee? I take it with cream and sugar please :D

Are you still planning the Pirate Wench decor for my place?

Lynne and Blythe, :notworth: to you both! You're my heroes!

So did you all enjoy your :mickey: waffles this morning? You left the kitchen so neat. Tomorrow morning it's eggs and turkey bacon (trying to keep it relatively healthy) and coffee, of course. I'll make it to go for anyone who just happens to be travelling.

Same to you!! And yes, the waffles were delish... can't wait for breakfast tomorrow!! You take such good care of me before bed!! Kind of crazy dreams, though... something about mickey mouse and a sparrow and pirate ships...

Did anybody miss me?

Always!! Where'd you go? Did you miss us??

It is a big island...but also very relaxing. I love being near the ocean. This (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/marlynx2/100_1490.jpg) was taken from my window. It is a cruise ship on its way back from Alaska. I couldn't live inland ever. The ocean gets into your soul. Do you think that is why I like Capt Jack so much?? LOL
Once I kidnap him I have no intentions of sharing (unless you bribe me with cookies?)

You are so speaking my language... the ocean has been a part of me all my life. I've been going to Maine since I was a little girl, and have always dreamed of living close to the coast. The closest I got was 6 yrs in New Hampshire... it was awesome, the coast was only 45 mins. away, and I was there just about every day off before my first DD was born. My parents own land in York, Maine, and we dream of building there some day -- we'll see what's meant to be.
What kind of cookies would you like? How many? Where shall I deliver them to? I'll bring extra for the Sparrow... :D

Bunch of smart alex's! Get it???

Evening, all!

Smart alex's??? Oh my gosh! How long you been waiting to break that one out??? But yes, Alex, we missed you and it is good to see your legs...I mean you! :secret:

Where's Scott? Have all our Capt. Jack drool fests been driving the JQ men away??? Their posts seem to be getting fewer and far between.

Have a good sleep Blythe.

Rhonda how's your Dad doing?

Ellen have you found out if you can get both done at once yet or is that not till next tuesday?

Jenn hows the party planning going?

And does anyone else think next time we reno Alex's house we'd better leave extra space for the doorways so his ego will fit through?

I'm worried about the whole leg thing. Aren't you all?

Where's Deb & Di as well? It's been kinda quiet around here.

Hi Nat! :hi:

It certainly has been quiet around here!

I know SOME people are busy headed to WDW today...not that I have been :pout: that it's not me or anything!

Wanna have some fun? I say when our friends don't check in for a while, they leave us no choice but to GUESS/ MAKE UP what they must be doing!! :plot: :thedolls: Mmmmwaaaaaah haaaaaa haaaa! (that's a very sinnister laugh, if you couldn't tell!)

I'll get us started...

Alex is on the phone this morning taking out a policy with the same insurance company that insured Mary Hart's legs.

Ken is still in the 1950s and is trying to fix the flex capacitor to get back home! (Can't you just see him with "Doc" at the town's clock tower?)

Extremely.

Sending more :pixie: along for Ellen. And some for Jasper's back. I truly feel for you, back pain has got to be the worst.

Jenn, I just thought of something for the party that might be easy, although I don't know how expensive. What about pizzas?

Lynne, in case I don't get the chance later, have a safe, wonderful trip! Looking forward to reading about it when you get back.

Hi Nat, I've been in and out of here.. those pesky customers have come out of the wood work this week. Don't they know they are taking away from my Intercot time?

Hmmm... do you think we can even make a large enough doorway for Alex's ego? ;)

And I believe our Galactic Hero, Jenn, leaves tomorrow... so I hope you have a safe and magical trip also!

And don't either of you worry - your homes are in good hands with the JQ Crew!

Hey Jaspar - does that Backhoe have enough diesel/gas? Who has the jello mold of the Black Pearl? Oh, and just leave the 'window' au natural at Ken's! I think he did mention wanting a water feature.. and since we have to get two jobs done in the next week, I think we better tie up the loose ends at Ken's as quick as possible (duct tape works great for tying up those loose odds and ends) and head on out! Jaspar has the back hoe.. Scott, can you drive the crane? And Alex - do you think you can manage the semi?

I hear you..I just found out I'm getting a different assistant which is a total day wrecker. My current one is amazing both with me and with clients and responds well to pressure. Mind you she's not happy either since I increase her bonus with my performance and she's not exactly trading up in her new pool. GRR!

So Jenn will they phone you if you don't get it all signed? Or do you get to leave work phones behind?

Rhonda how's your Dad doing?

Physically, he's doing better. He's still in the rehab center though. He saw his regular doctor earlier this week and that doctor doesn't feel he is mentally aware enough to live on his own (either in his own home or in assisted living) and wants him to be in a nursing home. :( Getting old stinks.

I promise I will take very, very good care of your avatar for you (it doesn't rust from long hours of being stared at, right?). Your coffee is hot and ready to go (but not McDonalds sue-me hot) in a Capt Jack to go travel mug. Yes, Pirate Wench decor is still on the agenda... right, everyone?

You are so speaking my language... the ocean has been a part of me all my life.

The last I heard the second procedure is a "no go" for right now. The situation is getting uncomfortable though and I'll be talking about it either with the p/s tomorrow or with my main doc next week.

Where is DisneyDeb? Motown Deb did pop in... Di, when is her surgery?

We leave tomorrow.....and will be having dinner with Pogo!

I am experiencing day from heck.....if it can go wrong it has..... Why does everything need urgent sign off just as you are finishing things up to go away for a few days? Yi Yi YI!!
Say hi to Pogo and his DW for us!

I have a theory about the weeks from you know where that happen right before vacation. Does anyone agree that it's the universe's way of really making sure we actually NEED a vacation?

Anyone want a nice, hot fresh cinnamon roll?
Have any of you checked out the size of the cinnamon rolls at Starbucks? (They're like the size of a baby's head!)

So, has spring sprung by you?
I think it's springing tomorrow down here. What about up near you?

I need a Stitchie Poo fix!
Will this (http://benellen.smugmug.com/photos/114147648-M.jpg)help in the meantime? I think he was feeling a bit mischevous because the next thing he did was lick DS's autograph book, extend his arm, look straight at me, drop said autograph book on the floor, and start laughing!

Physically, he's doing better. He's still in the rehab center though. He saw his regular doctor earlier this week and that doctor doesn't feel he is mentally aware enough to live on his own (either in his own home or in assisted living) and wants him to be in a nursing home. :( Getting old stinks.

Has anyone else realized that tomorrow is finally Friday? It's been a very long week!
Sorry about your dad, Rhonda. It's hard to see them go through this (my mom is losing her memory very quickly). As for getting old stinking, in my book, it's so much better than the alternative! ;) BTW, I finally did it... I saw a nutritionist today during my infusion and now have a plan! Thanks for inspiring me!

So anyone have ideas for the pirate wench room?

I'm making coffee tomorrow for all but we need some healthy choices for breakfast, pretty please!

Tomorrow I'm going to DS's school for an awards ceremony. (He asked if would please go... who can say no to that?) Anyone else have Friday plans to counteract what has not been a great week?

Hi Rhonda...more :pixie: for your dad. Hang in there...and know that there are REALLY good nursing homes out there!

Ellen, I just can't tell you how hard I am praying and praying and praying that you are quickly put on the road to recovery and don't ever have to look back at any more of this mess!!!

So we need pirate wench decor plans?? Hmmmm....I think the first thing that should be done is to stock her kitchen with plenty of rum!!

No Friday plans here other then DH cooking a yummy dinner. I hope the awards go well. I have an oranage and an apple would they help? I'm sorry to hear about the surgery choice right now. Hopefully it will be resolved very soon, and the nutrisionist plan sounds very good...

Anyone have any ideas for Lynne's house while she's gone?

Hmmm.. I think "Pirate Wench" is the 'theme' for the reno... we gotta remember that we also have to do Jenn's house.. so we only have a couple days at each place...

Any body see my hammer?

I saw it lying in the grass over there by the crane that Scott was driving.... oooops... well, anyone wanna run to Home Depot?

Rhonda - glad your father is doing better physically. It is tough to get old and I remember how tough it was on my mom when a decision had to be made on my grandma about nursing homes... so here's some pixie dust and hugs for you... :pixie:

Continued pixie dust :pixie: for you Ellen in all you are going thru!

Motown Deb is just very busy with work and all. Her surgery is May 2 and she's not looking forward to it at all.

Thanks for posting the picture! Stitch is such a little cutie pie! That did help! I'm so looking forward to seeing him again in Disneyland in November! Think I can convince my friend to have the Stitch breakfast EVERY morning we are there?

Pirate Wench decor? Well... let's redo her whole house into the shape of the Black Pearl. Line all her walls with rum bottles. Use rum bottles as the 'legs' on ALL her furniture. We'll need several water features of course. And parrots, lots and lots of noisy, squawking parrots.

So we need pirate wench decor plans?? Hmmmm....I think the first thing that should be done is to stock her kitchen with plenty of rum!!

Obviously I agree with this... she'll also need lots of crackers for all her parrots.

Hi So we need pirate wench decor plans?? Hmmmm....I think the first thing that should be done is to stock her kitchen with plenty of rum!!

Now that is what I call a great idea -- you think with enough rum she won't notice that we took Jack?? :D

Me too! I grew up 10 minutes from the Atlantic. The hardest years of my life were when I lived in Madrid... no ocean or lake near there. Now I live 2 blocks from the ocean (well, the NY harbor to be exact). I need a body of water near me to be happy.

The last I heard the second procedure is a "no go" for right now. The situation is getting uncomfortable though and I'll be talking about it either with the p/s tomorrow or with my main doc next week.

Ellen -- a big :ditto: to what you said about needing to be near the water -- I've always been that way!! It's tough being 6 hrs from "our spot" right now... but hopefully someday soon we'll be closer to the coast -- if not Maine's, then maybe NC's. We'll see... :fingers:

Thanks for posting the pic of Stitch -- that is a good one!! I just love him... and to think before I saw the movie a few years ago I thought he was annoying!! But once I saw the movie... well, I've adored him ever since -- so much so that my DH and DD's got me stuffed Stitch animals for my birthday last year, and I just about ran them over when we saw him @ AK last year!! I think I was more excited than my DD's were!! :stitch: Here's a picture of us...

Di - I love Stitch, too!! How could anyone NOT want to eat with Stitch every morning?? Have you seen him on top of the entrance to World of Disney in DTD?? It's awesome... of course, he's spitting water at everyone... but I find that endearing, somehow... ;)

I think I'm going to borrow your "rum table legs" idea when we move just in case of ours get broken... by accident, of course....

Rhonda -- I hope your dad starts to feel better... I went through the same thing when my dad was sick, and it was so hard. Good luck as you help him...

Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? It's supposed to be sunny and 70 here... AMAZING... can't wait!!

Let's see... more pirate wench decor ideas... maybe a few tables made out of old-fashioned ship's wheels... lots of deep set transom windows with rum bottles and sea shells in them... shall we do the same @ Jen's??

I wasn't able to open your picture. Not sure if it's me or your link. Tee hee - EVERY time I saw Stitch anywhere while I was there in December I ran into the line to meet him. One time I caught him as he was getting ready to go on break and so we stepped out of line, went to do something else, but I dragged my sister and friend back to meet him again. My friend has never seen Stitch's movies and she's more into the Princessess (in fact, she already told me that we are doing the Ariel Princess dinner since I'm 'making' her do the Stitch breakfast) Yea! At Christmas that Stitch was wearing a santa hat! It was sooo cute! And I agree, all the 'icky' things he does are endearing!

How about those amazing windows and the organ from Davy Jones' cabin? Oh... should we make her a pirate's flag? And what should we call her houseship?

We have amazing sunshine here today! It's already hot out! According to the weather updates I get on my cell every morning, it was actually warmer here this AM than in Orlando. What a nice feeling after so many months of yucky weather.

Natalie, Natalie, Natalie! I really expected the sarcasm from Di, but you?
Alex, she's entitled to a few days... after all, her admin is being switched out and who knows what that trainee is up to these days. I hope he's at least supplying a steady flow of Timmie's.

Did anyone else get up too early today?
Yesterday and today... Friday night I couldn't sleep (still dealing with the pre-meds from treatment) and this morning we were at Toys R Us at 8:00 to finally get a Wii as they had a shipment. It wasn't too tortuous though... we waited outside the store (we were 15th there) for 35 minutes then they started handing out numbers. We were let in the store in small groups, plunked down an inordinate amount of money and were on our way home by 8:50. Baby's got his new Pokemon DS game and Mom's got a new toy! The Wii is actually fun! Anyone want to come over and play?

Wondering how are our travellers are doing... Do you think they've visited Sandy? The reno is going nice over in Vancouver, don't you think?

I would love to come play on your new toy with you Ellen! Are you sending me a plane ticket? 'Cause it's a really long walk... :walk:

Christine

Oh Ellen, you got a Wii? Did a couple of Asian guys deliver it to your door and ask to play, too?
;)

What a weekend! Glorious weather!! Soccer yesterday was great...DD scored a goal which is a rare thrill for her as she normally plays sweeper! But in the last few minutes of the game, Coach let her play forward and she managed to squeeze a goal in there! :soccer:

Then my MIL (yes, I know I left off the "D" there!) came into town and spent the night.

Oh, and we bought a townhouse! Yep, it kind of came out of nowhere! We sold our house in the summer, and wanted to rent for a while as we prepare ourselves financially to move to Florida.

But our rental stinks! And other rentals are either worse, or the rent is more money than I would even consider paying without owning.

So we happened upon a new subdivision of townhomes, did a tour, and signed on the dotted line! The good news: The only units available are under construction so we get to pick out EVERYTHING! Fixtures, carpet, paint, floorplan and all! Plus our payment will be less than our rent now and we will be building equity!

The bad news: As they are all under construction, we cannot get in until the fall :(
Our lease ends 9-1, so we are hoping it will coordinate with that. Here's :fingers:

Cool news about the townhouse, Christine! Hopefully everything will work out with the completion... if not, can you continue month-to-month on your rental? We had to do that when we had our house built.

Yeah for your daughter!! That's great!! I always played half-back, and if I ever got up to play forward, I was too exhausted to score!! She must be thrilled!!

Congratulations on the townhouse!! That is so great!! You must be so excited -- it sounds like a great idea, and so much better if you hate your rental. We're doing the same thing you guys are doing right now, moving into a rental after the sale of our house next month... we want to put some $$ aside before we buy again, but we don't know if we'll be staying here, or moving southward for my DH's job. But we're lucky -- we found a rental we just love -- at least we think we will! :fingers: Good luck with the timing -- I sure hope it all works out for you!!

I'm back at work again tonight -- what'd everyone do today??

Christine, congrats on the townhouse. I hope you can get in there by the fall. Sounds like you had a good time on the soccer field. It was softball and baseball for us all weekend. The weather was perfect to be sitting on the sidelines.

So Ellen, are you enjoying the Wii? My kids are still on PS2. I guess I am a bit behind the technology, but if they don't complain I'm in no rush to upgrade.

Oh no, Florida is still on. We will just be living here until we feel secure enough to go (shooting for summer 09!) But we couldn't see living in anymore rentals around here between now and then...they're all either over priced or junked out (and in some cases, both!)
Thanks for all the congrats, guys!

Hmmmm. Should I tell about my trip to the fifties in the trip report thread? Some kid named Marty kept trying to get in the way with his DeLorean, so I finally had to crush it with the RV (it's OK, he wasn't in it...I think). Took a while to get the RV up to speed to charge the flux capacitor--we missed on the first round and my front bumper wound up in 1972. If you read in your history books about someone at a protest rally being hit with a stray bumper--well...

We decided to come back because the fifties were so booooring. I did get a chance to talk to a certain person in California and put a bug in his ear about building a theme park in Florida though. He kind of laughed about people wanting to come to some Florida swamp to be entertained.

Anybody want to hear more?

I go to a dentist who's advertisement reads "Dentistry for the frightened patient" and his picture in the yellow pages has a bunch of chickens sitting in a waiting room reading magazines! :)

They will give you laughing gas for a CLEANING if you want! They are great! And they will do sedatives etc prior for fillings, extractions, crowns, etc.

Ask your dentist for some of the happy stuff...they will probably say ok!!

Christine, honestly I don't know. I don't do residential or home loans and the USA uses a very different format for them then we do here. (40 year amortizations have just been approved this year and terms are hardly ever longer then 5 years maybe 7 at the outside but you never ever see anyone locking in for 30 years say).

ARM or interest only is rare unless it's for a lower loan to value (typically for an equity take out for say reno's etc). Bottom line though is you should comparison shop. Your paper (largest near city daily) should have a rate shop chart on it each weekend to give you a ballpark but fico scores have a much higher impact then they will here in canada where we use asset class more then credit rating to assess rate. Everyone sleepy now?

1. You see Nat, Ellen already answered the music question with an Elvis song, sort of.

2. Shoes...let's just say you should be glad you're in the 21st century. Speaking of which, you would be proud--DW and I did some outlet-hopping while on vacation and I bought three pairs of shoes (I think she got about five pairs).

3. I watched them produce my first car--a '52 Ford-o-Matic. Authomatic transmissions were still pretty new in the early fifties, so they made a big deal about it being automatic. By the time I got it in '67 the shiny gray had turned to a chalky gray. I could go 0-40 in just under 45 seconds in that one.

4. Hair--he he. Crew cut or DA, what's your choice? I was going to watch myself get my first haircut, but then I remembered that my father used to cut mine when I was very young, and it wasn't a pretty sight. I do remember using 'Butch Wax' on my crew cuts though.

I brought some coonskin caps back if anybody wants some. On second thought, I think I'll keep them for a JQ redo. Speaking of which, how are we coming with the Pirate Wench do-overs?

We really need to finish up Maryln's house today.. I'm thinking the rum bottles may not have been a good idea after all since they seem to be quite a 'distraction' to the guys. Let's do Jenn's house to be fit for the 'Galactic Hero' she is... A big spaceship shaped home.. with lots of spacy looking things inside. What do you guys think?
We've got somebody on our staff who's pretty spacey that I'd be willing to donate.

Does anybody have lots of spare aluminum (aluminium) to spare to make hats? I think Jenn would really appreciate an open-air atrium like mine so she can gaze at the stars. I think we need to empty lots more rum bottles to make some cool retro-rockets too.

Sounds good...are you going to donate a Stitch doll to put in a room? I think I have some of those stars/planets that you stick on the wall & they glow in the dark.
Di donate a Stitch doll..is she ill?

Does everyone have one of these? I think they are required. In any office I've ever worked at anyways.

My fave was the co-worker who (back when windows first came out) had to in 4 equal quads and even had pen lines on her monitor to make sure they "stayed put".

Is anyone else getting excited over our October meet?

Absolutely!! Can't wait until the details come out!! :mickey3:

Could it be that the crew is emptying the rum bottles before using them in the decorations (and I don't mean down the drain)?

Any fun planned for today? I'm off to the hospital for my nuclear scan and pre-op testing, and then home again to work. See y'all later!

Never!! Who would EVER drink... I mean dump out... bottles of rum just for decoration?? :D

I sure hope all your testing goes okay - when is your surgery scheduled for?? Saying lots prayers, crossing my fingers and sending lots of pixie dust your way...

Great idea!! What do they drink is space??? :marg:

We joked around that we want a "last supper" before our surgeries. So, our co-workers will be making homemade potato salad, BBQ ribs, grilled chicken & a banana split pie! :eat: :tasty: i am bringing a fruit & veggie tray to share. Anyone want to join us tonight? I am sure there will be plenty!

I wish I was going to be up all night with you tonight -- I'd be SO there!! Sounds yummy... I'll have to come up with some ailment so I can suggest the same thing to my crew...

So - who's on their way to work on Jen's?? Where'd the crane end up, and who's got the hammer??

Mind you I don't think I've ever had tang so I could be wrong but it just doesn't sound tasty to me. It all comes down to careful planning!! Something I have done in the past is approach my employer with my desire to go to Disney World while in the area and ask if I can take a day or two of vacation just before or just after the trip and still use their airline ticket. Obviously you would have to pay any additional hotel charges yourself. Is your employer pretty accomodating?

(Deb however your dinner does sound tasty even if i'm wondering how someone who needs 9 teeth removed is going to eat ribs.)

She hasn't had the teeth pulled yet. They just all have multiple cracks in them. She grinds her teeth too much & the night guards wouldn't even work. She would bite right through them. Wow, you guys have been busy!

I think we could do Jenn's house in a mixture of 'themes'.. one part could be Buzz lightyear, another part could be Star Wars... I think the two definitly can intermix successfully - both about good defeating evil and all. Oh, and seeing as how I'm not sick, no! I will not be donating one of my Stitch dolls to the efforts.

Alex's home - how about a homage to legs? We can use mannequin legs as all the table/chair/bed legs in his house, use panty hose for all the fabric... even have an indoor water feature that has a pair of legs on top with the water spurting out the toes... and we can paint huge feet on all his walls!!!

Deb - I sure hope you save some of those leftovers for me! Yum!

Ellen - glad the test went well. Will continue sending good thoughts and prayers to you!

Frankie - GO FOR IT! There is NO way you can be that close to 'you know where' and not stop in for a visit.

So, what's for breakfast today?

Isn't it an obligation? We have a policy at work that if it's much cheaper to fly home with a Saturday night stay, the firm will even pay your hotel on Friday/Saturday. Of course, you have to submit the supporting paperwork and you have to pay for your food, but it is very nice!

DDAI (Drummerboy Discount Amusements International) has a really good special this month on wooden inverted coasters, only slightly used. But what's this about the back yard? I say we weave it in and out of the inside rooms so it can run in the dark even during daytime.

Work orders, work orders.... They were in the crane cab. Hey, did anybody see that big folder in the crane marked 'top secret'? [Wonders if Frankie mistook it for his next assignment orders and absconded with it.]

We can definitely keep the leg lamps in Alex's house. We'll install a master switch so he can balckout the whole house at once when the coaster's running. Hope nobody opens the refirgerator door and ruins the effect. Although we could paint a big road sign on the inside of the door...

I guess the weather wasn't going on at your place!

Well, I wouldn't say that. We had had one round of storms go through before the game, and we came out of the arena to a TV screen plastered with a radar covered in red splotches. We moved in close to see what county it was, and it was the county we were in (and that we live in as well). We managed to make it the 13.5 miles home OK though (did run into some standing water on the highway that splashed up and covered the vehicles as we drove through so we couldn't see), but we got home to no power and a beeping noise. The carbon monoxide detector battery was low, but we thought it was the smoke detectors and checked two of those out before we even remembered the carbon monoxide detector.

The power did come back on about 45 minutes after we got home though. Unfortunately, it went off again about 3 times during the night. The storms were over by then, so we aren't sure why they kept going off.

So, after a night where my sleep was interrupted multiple times, why am I still awake this late?

I'm a big baby on this one... the surgery was not going to be fun and had the possibility of causing me chronic pain and introducing the risk of infection. But I'm worried about my poor kidney. :( And yes, I know that you can live with one, but I kinda need both to get chemo -- particularly the strong stuff. Sigh.

Christine, wish we were there to help you through... surgery just ain't fun unless you're the surgeon, I guess.

Ellen..first the not serious question. Do we now renovate houses cause you work nights? Poor Blythe hasn't gone anywhere despite nearly begging Maryln to take her with. Have you been staring at the avatar too much?

Ok now the serious reply...that's not very good news at all. Will changing the chemo regime slow down recovery or are there any other options such as a kidney transplant etc? Clearly not the news we wanted for you but we will keep pulling for you that you will get through this.

(back to funny)I'm confident you willl since it could take YEARS for us to be at WDW at the same time and we just have to make that happen. Therefore you will just have to get and stay 100% healthy so that I can slap a pair of fancy shoes on you. Just picture how much fun it will be to saunter through the Tree House in MK in heels ok? I'll let you use platforms since it's been a while though.

Hi all!! Can't believe I had to fight my kids AND my DH to get on here today -- he had to go get them from school since my 5yr. old had an upset stomach and was in the nurse's office @ the end of the day. Of course, she is now running around the house happily, wondering when dinner is... ;) So - DH needed to work from home when I got up -- doesn't he understand how important me getting on here is?? Sheeesh...

Did you like the waffles, Nat? And yes, there was lots of coffee - hope you found some!!

This afternoon I meet with the surgeon to discuss and arrange my gallbladder surgery. I am absolutely terrified just to even talk about it! What a baby I am!!

You are so NOT a baby on this one... I'd be terrified, too, and I've helped do the procedure more times than I can count! No matter what, it's scarey -- but I am sure you'll be fine -- they're refined it and made the procedure so much better even than when I was still in the OR. Sending :pixie: and a  your way - let us know when the big day is!

Hi, everyone! I have good news and bad news... which do you want first? The good news you say. Okay, the good news is that I'm not having procedure on Tuesday. The bad news is that the kidney is so shot it's not worth doing the surgery on.

Sigh.

It is quiet today around here... the only thing I'm hearing is the hammering from Alex's reno project. Can't wait to see what Blythe and Jenn have to say about their renovations. Maria, can you let us know when he's coming down the block so that we can position the RV before we make him say "Move that RV."

Ellen - I am so sorry to hear that things aren't going to happen quite the way you'd hoped - I don't know too much about these kind of procedures, but I am praying for you and sending lots of good thoughts and a  your way. You have such a positive attitude about all this even though I am sure it is so hard at times! You're amazing.

About those reno's - I know I miss a lot while I'm sleeping, but what are you planning here?? :D Like Nat said, I TRIED to climb into Marlyn's luggage, but... unfortunately, I'm still here... you MUST step away from that avatar... :)

Hope everyone's had a good day - I'm back to work tonight... although I don't know why... we HAVE to have delivered everyone yesterday!!

Anyone going to be around tonight??

Good evening, night owl(s). Blythe, sounds like a lovely selection for snacking (not). We'll have to make sure that you have a stash of the cookies of your choice.

How's your son feeling? (I used to love when my DS would pull that trick... the one time I was glad he did it though was the afternoon that would be the big black out a few years ago. He had a sinus thing going and got sick to his stomach in the summer heat. They called from camp insisting that I come get him which I did. Don't you know that on the way home he wanted to stop for pizza? We got home, he went to bed, I went in to check on him and just then out went the lights. I really felt like God put us together on purpose that day. There is no way I would have been able to make it home from the office... walking.)

Well, off to bed for me. Have a good evening and I'll have breakfast waiting for you in the AM.

Mmmm... cookies sound GREAT!! Just went and grabbed a handful of someone's trail mix... that'll keep me going for awhile!! Not as busy as last night, thank goodness... but I hear some pretty good t'storms are on their way, so I'm sure more babies will be trying to make an appearance soon!

Hope you have a good night's sleep everyone -- I'll keep a careful watch on the JQ world while you're all snoozing!! Looking forward to breakfast, Ellen!

Here I am checking late again. I'm having the hardest time keeping up with the boards lately!

Christine, did you find out the date for your procedure yet? I'm sure they'll do yours laproscopically which is so much easier than the old way. Back when I had mine out, it was a huge ordeal (I spent a week in the hospital and I have a huge scar to prove it). to you!

Ellen, sorry to hear the bad news. :( I hope it doesn't impact your :thedolls: fighting very much. to you too!

And, hi to everyone else! :hi: Unfortunately, that's all the time I have tonight!

Hi all. Ellen, what is their plan now? I am glad you don't have to have the procedure, but do they just leave it? Will they remember this when they give you chemo and just do smaller doses? I don't understand this much, so let me know how and what I am to pray for.

As for me, my surgery is set for Wednesday morning. The surgeon seemed nice...a bit odd though. He had a do-rag on his head and camoflauge rubber boots?????? He cusses like a sailor, but seemed to "know his stuff". I cried like a baby in his office. I feel like an idiot, but I am so terrified! I know I will be fine, but I just don't want to do it. I told DH tonight that if I am going to have a really bad week (at least) I wanted to be rewarded with a really good week...at WDW (for the I-COT meet of course)! I told him that would be the best reward for being a big girl and doing all this. We'll see...

I am very sleepy, so I am off to bed. Thanks for asking about me...it really does help to know people out there care. :grouphug:

Unfortunately, today's plans include a funeral service. A lady who was in my play died last week (she's only about a year older than me).

DW tells me that tomorrow includes yard work and Sunday afternoon will be taken up by rehearsal for the next play.

How do they expect me to get all these re-dos done? Can somebody get the RV over to Alex's place by 2:00? We'll have to put some kind of extension on top to hide the wooden Rock'nRoller coaster before we "Move that RV".

Running in in between customer calls.. wow.. what a busy week we've had here in our office.
Ellen - I am soooo sorry to hear about the results. YOu are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong! We are all pulling for you!
Christine - I had my gall bladder out - (along with numerous other surgeries) you will be ok! Again, we are all pulling for you! And I agree - a trip to Disney would be a good reward for you!
Ken - sorry to hear about the loss and funeral.
Alex - welcome back to America. Did you leave Germany in one piece?
Everyone else - hope you have GREAT weekends! I won't be around next week. Don't worry about reno'ing my home - after doing three this week you all need to rest! Going to Gatlinburg - you know - when you go to the mountains it only makes sense to stay in the mountains!

I am thinking chili dog Glade Plug-Ins, for one, to help you re-live "Stitch's Great Escape" every day! :ack: I think we can definitely handle another job, right gang???

I better run...DD's school is having a volunteer appreciation luncheon for all of us parents that volunteer. Then I have to work for DD's teacher (guess I have to work off that lunch!)

Hey Deb! Looks like we'll be surgery sisters this week! You just think of me and I will be thinking of you Wednesday and we'll get through this together! I will be praying for you too, girl! Do you get to go home Wednesday? My surgeon said that I will go to post op recovery for two hours, then a holding room for 4-6 hours. He said anything that could go wrong (bleeding, infection) would happen during that time frame. If all goes well, I should be home around 6 or 7 pm.

This afternoon I meet with the surgeon to discuss and arrange my gallbladder surgery. :scared: I am absolutely terrified just to even talk about it! What a :baby: I am!!
Christine, surgery is never fun. However, I have had the gallbladder done and it was really no big deal. Try not to sweat it. I know you'll feel great once it is over!

Hi, everyone! I have good news and bad news... which do you want first? The good news you say. Okay, the good news is that I'm not having procedure on Tuesday. The bad news is that the kidney is so shot it's not worth doing the surgery on. :(

Sigh.

Alex, velcome home! Did you know that they'll be building the two new DCL ships in Germany? Will you be going back to that country? How about scoping out the shipyard and we can start planning a special JQ suite? Good idea?

Christine and Deb, you are both in my thoughts and prayers for Wednesday. Christine, I know from last January that it's rather nerve-wracking to theoretically know that you need a procedure in the future, but once there's a date attached the nerves do start. I know that McCamuShoes will do great though. Were they Crocs? Are you exaggerating about the do-rag ;) or was it one of those surgical cap thingies all the cool kids wear (after surgery... in the halls, during office hours, are afraid to take off because they now have helmut hair)?

Ken, sorry about your loss. Never fun.

Rhonda, have fun at the concert. Catch any parrots?

Riri, thanks for the offer! You're the best! If anyone else would like to sponsor me or Ben, please send along a PM and I'll send you a link. And to those of you who already have, big

What's the next play you're doing??
We're doing a British farce called "Noises Off". I'm playing a washed-up 70+ Shakespearean actor who is hard of hearing and keeps chasing the bottle and can't remember his lines (I know, typecasting). It's fun because it's a play within a play and most of us have to play two characters--the actor and the character he or she plays. My character's character is a washed-up 70+ burglar who is hard of hearing.

We're opening on May 10. Next is "Children of Eden", a musical based on Genesis from the creation through Noah and the Ark. It's got some really good music in it.

Where's my question, you say? Well, I think Frankie took it. He needed it for one of his communiques.

I will definitely be thinking of you on Wednesday. What time is your surgery? Mine is supposed to be @ 8:45am. My surgeon seems to look more professional than yours does. (wonder if that is a good thing or bad thing?) I am supposed to be allowed to go home the same day if all goes well. The only thing I am afraid of is possibly throwing up from the anesthesia. But, my allergy nurse told me which kind to ask for to help prevent that. I will be going to the store today to stock up on the popsicles & ice cream.
I also love your idea for Di's house!!! I have my rolls of toilet paper waiting. The air fresheners are great too! I think about 30 would work for her house. I think her DH would love a spaceship bed that also doubles as a video game.

Alex, welcome home!!!! Good to see you back! Will the toys on my bed be video games? Can I have raspberry sherbet instead of ice cream?

My event is next Saturday! The rain has stopped here so it would be a fine day to walk along the harbor's edge. Also I need to head into the city to pick up our race t-shirt and goody bag. Right now I'm not feeling too bad from treatment yesterday so I do hope to get housework and errands done! Have a great day, everyone, and hope that the sun is shining out your way! Ellen I hope you have a wonderful weekend you've sure earned it.

Do I need to do a Costco run to get more toilet paper?

Hi all -- been up for awhile, just letting the coffee do it's magic... pardon if my spelling's a little off until then...

How about scoping out the shipyard and we can start planning a special JQ suite? Good idea?

If anyone else would like to sponsor me or Ben, please send along a PM and I'll send you a link. And to those of you who already have, big hug.

Great idea!! Can I have a pirate wench room, please?? :pirate: (I'll watch the rum...)

What is your walk for? I wasn't aware of it... I'll PM you for more info! :)

Sounds like a fun play and a really fun part!! How many times do you have to do a scene in order to do it w/o laughing?? Boy, they had you pegged...

Will the toys on my bed be video games? Can I have raspberry sherbet instead of ice cream?

Yes to both -- what's your fav game? Sending lots of rasp. sherbet your way... good choice. :tasty:

Good Morning all! It is great hearing "Walk This Way" blarring though the house.
Blythe - did you deliver allot of babies last night or wa there just allot of screaming soon-to-be mothers?

Did you somehow stumble into MY house??

Nope - not lots of babies last night, just the last two nights... we delivered 27 babies between 12am Wed and 12am Thurs!! We can hold 54 moms on our postpartum floor, and as of 7am this morning, we had 52 beds filled. Little nuts... glad it's over.

How's everyone's day going?? Christine - how was your DD's soccer game? Any more goals, or did she just keep do a great job protecting the goalie? Ellen - how's your son feeling? Did he make his tennis lessons? Mikki - you okay after the earthquake?? Do you live anywhere near where it hit??

My DH is off to the range to practice with a few clubs... then we're taking the girls to see "Meet the Robinsons" after dinner. Anyone else seen it yet? Looks cute... they can't wait to see the dinosaur. Not as exciting as a Jimmy Buffet concert, but we can't all be lucky... :marg:

We didn't feel the earthquake here. When it was reported on the news this morning after it had just happened there was a lot of confusion as some police reports said there had been a big explosion and other folks were saying they felt tremors. Don't think it was that high on the richter scale but we are not used to that sort of thing over here.

Alex - I didn't see you wave - are you sure you were looking the right way out the window? How do you like the new home- much improved? :D

Good morning.

What a rough weekend! Saturday night, some friends dropped by and wanted to take us to dinner. Well clearly I ate something my gallbladder did NOT LIKE, and I had one of my biggest attacks to date! I didn't even get out of bed yesterday.

So I have had a bit of a change of heart about surgery on Wednesday. While I am still scared, I am so looking forward to getting this stupid thing out!! I felt so bad Saturday night/Sunday morning, I would have let them take it out right then without anesthesia!

I am off this morning to the hospital to pre-register and get some bloodwork done. I don't know if I will be on tomorrow or not...have a FULL day! But if not, I will have DH post on Wednesday to let you know that I'm home. If he goes on to say that I was a big baby and NOT a good patient, ignore that part, okay??

We did enjoy "Meet the R'sons", although a few parts of it were a little too ridiculous for my liking. But, true to Disney, I was in tears at the end - gotta love being able to make an adult cry after a movie w/ a kid wearing a fruit salad hat... :D My girls LOVED it, though, so that made it even better.

But it only lasted about 15-20 minutes - I can't imagine how you must've felt with it lasting so long. :( But at least now you're actually looking forward to getting the surgery over with - funny how God can do stuff like that, huh?? ;) Good luck today w/ your pre-op stuff - can't wait to hear that you're home and feeling better on Wed. Sorry to hear about your g/b attack. I've only had one (when I was doing Atkins a few years back) and it was extremely NOT FUN. Here's hoping that the hardest part of today's pre-op was getting the stickies off after your EKG. Please make sure that DH updates us Wednesday as we'll be thinking about you.

Okay, should I be freaking out that they didn't do an EKG???? All she did was take 3 vials of blood. I hate living in the sticks...I bet our hospitals are like big city's hospitals WERE 30 years ago!

Hello everyone! :hi: We're back, but I've been running around like a crazy woman today! I love the Buzz Wars themeing in my home! Especially the open-air atrium! What ever are those rockets made from? :darth::yoda::trooper:

I am also terrified of the dentist. hey, that seems like a very sensible reaction to someone who has the potential to cause you so much pain, right? Fortunately my new Dentist seems very friendly and understanding.....

I too am not a big fan of the Dentist. Does that make us big babies? You know, I have never had so much as a toothache -- no cavities, no crowns...nothing.... I am petrified of the dentist and I HATE going! So your fears seem quite rational by comparison!

Oh, and we bought a townhouse! Yep, it kind of came out of nowhere! We sold our house in the summer, and wanted to rent for a while as we prepare ourselves financially to move to Florida. :fingers: Great news! Congratulations Christine!!

Hi all! So what's happening with everyone? Sorry I haven't been around much but my back has really had me down again and to add insult to injury I developed an ear infection in both inner ears. For those of you who have had this or who suffer from Menniere's Disease, you know what that inner ear stuff does to your equilibrium and eventully to your ability to keep your food where it belongs.

I have been unable to raise my head off the pillow without :ack: :ack: :ack: since last Wednesday!

I am starting to feel a little better, but until the ears clear all they can do is keep feeding me nausea meds.

Don't know if I will be back later today or not so I will catch you all later.

What ever are those rockets made from?
Can somebody help me here? I was too busy emptying rum bottles to remember.

That sounds awful Jasper. Hope you feel better real soon. Maybe the backhoe isn't really the equipment for you then?

Know what else we need for Di's Stitch remodel? We need a giant Stitch perched above her front door that spits water on guests/passers-by, just like at World of Disney!

Blythe, I feel your pain on the moving...gee I would help, but I won't be allowed to lift anything over 15 pounds for the next 6 weeks. Shucks! ;)

Now, didn't I mention that last week?? Great minds must think alike... although I only mentioned it as a shower head... like the over the door idea, though... :D

I'm sure I MUST have stuff that weighs less that 15 lbs... if I just gently hand it to you, could you just put it away for me???;)

Hello everyone! We're back, but I've been running around like a crazy woman today!

Welcome back!! We've missed you - can't wait to read your trip reports!! Heard a little from Pogo, sounds like you all had a good time together.

Jasper, I'm so sorry to hear you've been under the weather - or should I say under the covers - what a lousy thing to have happen!! I can't even imagine how bad you must've been feeling - I HATE being nauseaus, more than anything in the world. I sure hope you're feeling totally better soon!!

:funny: Note to Jen - don't turn on the rockets... :stop:

Well, it's official - we can move into our rental house whenever we want. Now to just can a solid closing date on our current house - gotta wonder just what it is the mortgage lenders spend their time doing that makes it take so long!!

How was everyone's day today?

Alex -- How was Germany? You know Brian will be jealous as all get out! Where were you?
Flew into Frankfurt, meetings in the Manheim area; then an excursion to the Pfalz wine region. Just caught the beginning of Spargel season (white asparagus) too. Anybody like Spargel?

Welcome home, Jenn!

Okay, should I be freaking out that they didn't do an EKG???? All she did was take 3 vials of blood. [...]

That picture of Ben's birthday cake is amazing! Was that on the cruise? It is amazing!
Don't fret... they probably do an EKG on me because I'm :old: (minus the beard, thank goodness! )

Yes, that was on the cruise. Any wonder the young man can't wait to go back? (No pun intended but it does work, doesn't it?)

Oh, Jasper, I'm so sorry. My uncle has Menniere's and it's no fun at all. And unrelenting nausea is just an awful thing to deal with. Hope you keep ahead of it with your meds.

Sandy, the ice cream (hold the chocolate, hold the cookies) will be for Deb on Thursday following her surgery Wednesday. The rice crispie treats are for the rest of us to keep our energy up so that we can take care of our recovering JQ cohorts. Sorry your allergies have kicked in... just think, now that all those Intercoters are making their way home, you'll be able to rest your voice more at work.

Where is everyone else? It's been awfully quiet around here.
