Day Two: The Magic
Kingdom Event
On January 25, 2007, the Walt Disney World resort opened a new lounge in
connection with the Make-a-Wish foundation, previewed the next attraction to
open at the Magic Kingdom and granted the first dream to stay in Cinderella
Castle.
Adding a new chapter to their long-standing history of wish-granting, the Magic
Kingdom Park opened the Disney Wish Lounge. The Disney Wish Lounge is a place
created for Disney Wish Program Guests to rest and enjoy light refreshments and
Guest Services without having to leave the park or return to their hotel.
Monsters, Inc. The Laugh Floor Comedy Club is an immersive and interactive
attraction in which guests can laugh, joke, match wits and laugh some more with
comedian wannabes recruited by Mike Wazowski. During the Magic Kingdom Event,
Disney gave the media a sneak preview at this son-to-open attraction.
To commemorate the opening of the Cinderella Castle Suite to the public the
Magic Kingdom held the Royal Treatment Celebration. During the celebration, the
Fouch family were recognized as the first guests to win a night's stay inside
Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Park as part of the unique Disney Dreams
Giveaway.
The Wish Lounge
"Just attended the opening of the Wish Lounge at Casey’s Corner and they crowned
an adorable little girl from the Make a Wish Foundation princess for a day. The
presentation was done by Michael of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which was
kind of cool and they teased the opening of the castle suite and kidded him as
to whether he had anything to do with the makeover." --JohnY

Monsters
Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club
"This afternoon, we got to preview the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club...
and here is my honest assessment. First off, the show has the potential to be
very entertaining. I like the concept and think that Timekeeper was tired and in
need of replacement. Once they get the material down pat, I think this will be
something you visit every time you come to the park. Of note, most of the show
is indeed improvised, so if you do the show now and then come back in two hours,
most of it will be different. They like to interact with the audience, and at
least in our show, picked on one audience member (in a fun way) thru the whole
show. Because the theatre is rather large, the screen that your host (Mike
Wazowski) appears on is quite big.
Not sure if it's larger than the Crush screen
(which uses the same technology) but it felt bigger as it's elevated. There are
2 other screens, one that Mike appears on after his intro to the right and one
to the left of the main stage which Roz does her introduction on and later
doubles as the audience cam. Apparently, there are about 20 odd characters that
could appear in the show, so things will definitely rotate in and out - making
repeat visits more interesting. In our show, there was a comedic monster that
warmed the crowd for Mike and then introduced him. Then I think there were at
least 2 other acts before the show close. This is a 15 minute show improv show
with 3-4 performers. Audience members in the queue will have the opportunity to
text in jokes on their cell phone and might have them used in the show itself."
