75th Birthday Mickey!
Disney officially marks Mickey Mouse’s 75th birthday by remembering that it all started
with a mouse. In honor of this event, Disney has commissioned 75 Mickey
statues created by actors, artists, athletes and performers (featured at
right is “All Aboard!" by famed and beloved Disney Artist, and one of Walt’s
“Nine Old Men”, Ollie Johnston). The 75 six-foot tall statues will be on
display in the Magic Kingdom through April, 2004. The statues will then make
a whistle-stop tour through selected U.S. cities before being auctioned off
for charity by Sotheby’s.
The instillation of the statues at Walt Disney World marks the beginning of
an 18-month long celebration of all things that are Mickey including DVD
releases, television shows, postage stamps and a full-length feature film.

INTERCOT
at IAAPA Orlando
In just over a week from now, the staff of INTERCOT hits the Orlando
Convention Center for the 85th Annual "IAAPA Orlando 2003 Annual Convention
and Trade Show". The event held by the International Association
of Amusement Parks and Attractions will take place Nov. 17-22 and is the
largest convention for the $19 billion worldwide amusement industry, with an
estimated 30,000 attendees expected for this years show. INTERCOT will
report live from the event Wednesday thru Friday with photos, commentary,
news and information.
