Another year of Disney Vacations have come true.  As many families are reflecting upon a great trip from 2009, it is time to look forward to 2010 and what exciting offerings Disney will unveil in the coming year.  In this edition we take a look at the what's new and what's changing in the coming year at the Walt Disney World resort, the Disneyland resort, and on board the Disney Cruiseline.  It's Insider Time!

From Coast to Coast and Beyond the Sea, Disney magic will be in full swing in 2010.  Here's a look at the new and exciting offerings to entice Guests to visit Disneyland, travel to Walt Disney World, and hop aboard the Disney Cruise Line in 2010:

Captain EO Returns to Disneyland

Thirteen years after its final curtain call, Captain EO will return for a limited engagement at Disneyland park beginning in February 2010.   The attraction’s return to Tomorrowland will provide new audiences the opportunity to experience the original 3D production for the very first time, as well as a nostalgic look back for longtime fans wanting to see “The King of Pop” in a rare performance created for the big-screen, just one more time.
 

A "Plused" Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland

As 2009 drew to a close, President Abraham Lincoln returned to the Main Street Opera House in Disneyland with stunning new Audio-Animatronics technology that makes this the most lifelike and expressive Lincoln figure yet. Through-out 2010, Guests will be able to experience Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln with the new Lincoln figure and an enriched presentation that combines the best elements of the park’s original 1965 show and today's most advanced technical abilities.

World of Color Debuts at Disney's California Adventure

World of Color, a spectacular new nighttime water show, will astound guests with its magnitude and creativity when it debuts in Spring 2010 at Disney’s California Adventure park. Surpassing all Disney water productions, “World of Color” will bring Disney animation to life with powerful fountains that become stars of the show as they create the world’s largest projected water screen.

Disney Parks Launch "Give a Day, Get a Day" Promotion

Beginning January 1st,  Disney hopes to inspire families to volunteer in their communities during 2010 through this first-of-its-kind program that “rewards” volunteer service with admission for a day to a Disney theme park. To enable people to sign up for an eligible volunteer project, Disney is working with HandsOn Network, the nation’s largest volunteer network. Starting Jan. 1, 2010, guests can go to DisneyParks.com for the United States and Puerto Rico or DisneyParks.ca for Canada to search for volunteer opportunities available in those areas through HandsOn Network and sign up for a day of volunteer service. Many of the opportunities will be for projects that entire families with children age 6 or older can participate in together.

VoluntEARS Cavalcade Kicks-Off at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland

Each afternoon, just before the daily parade, the Magic Kingdom Park and the Disneyland Park will host a procession of Muppets characters and parade dancers, special floats, and vehicles celebrating volunteerism.  Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy , and Sweetums will be part of the merriment, as well as dancers donning outfits that celebrate the work of volunteers.  This colorful cavalcade kicks off January 8, 2010 and will feature "Honorary VoluntEARS" serving as Grand Marshals of the parade.  

Wide World of Sports Complex Re-launches at Walt Disney World

In February 2010 the Wide World of Sports complex will be re-christened the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The name change will also bring many new elements for Guest to enjoy.  Guests will discover a new welcome center, a digital center where video captured by 44 cameras across the 220-acre sports campus is edited for display on 40 video screens and two “jumbotrons” throughout the complex as part of a veritable “Wide World of SportsCenter,” and the new ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, technical staff will continue work in the Innovation Lab to develop ground-breaking ESPN on-air products – using the action throughout the complex as a real-world testing environment.

Luxury Pet Resort Opens at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney World will add a one-of-a-kind pet resort to its resort portfolio in 2010.  The new resort will provide pet hospitality services that will include boarding, grooming and doggy day camp, and amenities such as luxury suites with television and raised bedding. Pet activities will feature nature walks and playgroups, and pampering services will range from ice cream treats to bedtime stories. The facility will be operated by Best Friends Pet Care.

Disney Cruise Line Unveils a Newly Enhanced Castaway Cay 

Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island paradise in the tropical waters of the Bahamas, is adding more water-based family-fun, additional conveniences and a slice of beachside luxury in the Summer of 2010.  Guests can slide and splash at a new water feature called Pelican Plunge, a 2,400-square-foot floating platform featuring an enclosed corkscrew waterslide.  A brand-new, 2,400-square-foot water play area called Spring-a-Leak helps guests cool off while immersing them in what appears to be the remnants of a washed-away beach dwelling. The Castaway Family Beach is being extended by more than 700 feet for families to enjoy the pristine white sand, build sand castles, relax in the shade under an umbrella and take a dip in the warm azure waters of the lagoon. Dotting the expanded Castaway Family Beach are 16 new family cabanas offering the privacy and luxury of a deluxe beach retreat. 

“Villains Tonight!” Debuts aboard the Disney Magic

The first full-scale musical production dedicated to the Disney villains debuts aboard the Disney Magic on March 27, 2010.   The show is a family-friendly, fun-filled musical extravaganza that places these famous characters in some irreverent funny moments. “Villains Tonight!” features a “Who’s Who” of the Disney villains, including Disney’s newest crook, Dr. Facilier from “The Princess and the Frog.” The show also features classic divas and scoundrels such as Ursula, the Evil Queen , Captain Hook and Scar. After its debut run on the Disney Magic, the show will hop ships to the Disney Dream in early 2011.
