Disneyland Resort Expansion
The Walt Disney
Company announced October 17th a significant multi-year expansion plan for
the Disneyland Resort that continues its growth as a multi-day, world-class
tourist destination. The expansion will bring new entertainment and major
family-oriented attractions to Disney's California Adventure Park, including
an entirely new Cars Land inspired by the hit Disney•Pixar animated film
“Cars.”
Let's
all wave goodbye to the Timone lot. We may never see it again. –
DoomBuggyDude
I
have put my trust in John Lasseter to really make California Adventure (or
whatever they eventually rename it) a destination unto itself. If he can't
do it, no one can! – SusieMouse
California Adventure has grown on me. I still think it is missing the Disney
magic and I am very excited for the expansion. I hope they do bring Walt's
history into the park. - Tinkerbellaella

Disney
Dining Experience Program Institutes 18% Gratuity At Restaurants
An email was
sent recently to Disney Dining Experience participants which included the
following wording... "We would also like to inform you that the Walt Disney
World® Resort will be implementing an across property policy change
regarding gratuity at all food and beverage locations. Effective January 1,
2008, 18% gratuity will be added to all transactions, regardless of party
size. Thank you for your continued support." Disney responded to a number of
INTERCOT Guests who emailed guest relations seeking clarification on to whom
and when the gratuity applied with the following statment :
"The 18%
gratuity will be included when Guests are parties of six or more enjoy
dining experiences at our Table Service locations or if Guests are members
of the exclusive Disney Dining Experience..."
Actually, this move saves me money. I've always looked at the card as
getting the tip "for free". Now, the tip will actually be a little less than
we normally tip and we don't need to play with the math. – faline
I'm a
big tipper too, and I hate this!! I prefer to reserve the right to tip more
or less based on the quality of service... – LibertyTreeGal

The Halloween candy is almost gone, the trees are almost bare and we’re
ready for Thanksgiving. Here’s a look back at the October happenings in the
Water Cooler.
Halloween is a popular topic in the Cooler. Have you ever heard of “booing”
or “ghosting”? Mary Poppins, Here we go again…, Tinkermom, prprincess,
Melanears, KCMom and BRJARE3 all participate. You give treats, a poem and an
“I’ve Been Boo’d” card to your neighbors and ask them to do the same to two
neighbors. A cute tradition that I learned about here at INTERCOT. And was
anyone else besides mickeys_princess_mom up late on Halloween Eve sewing
costumes? ldn234 asked for ideas for an adults Halloween party, and we had
the usual “how many pieces of candy do you give” discussions. So, don’t
forget to check out the Water Cooler for your seasonal/holiday tips!
Jamie’s Friday parties in October included the It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad Hatter
Day Party, the Let’s All Scream and Be Merry Party, the Mullets with Mullets
Monster Mash, and the Boo to You! INTERCOT Halloween Party (hosted by
Dr_Nigel_C). Thanks Jamie & Rob for another fun month of Fridays.
Did you know that Halloween isn’t the only holiday in October? According to
Piglet822, there were lots of reasons to celebrate in October. Some of the
more memorable days included National Bologna Day, Babbling Day, Count Your
Buttons Day, International Skeptics Day, Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day,
Come and Take It Day, Curious Events Day, Evaluate Your Life Day, Wear
Something Gaudy Day, Be Bad and Free Day and of course we can’t forget
National Chocolate Day! Remember, the next time you’re looking for a reason
to celebrate, just visit Jeanne’s monthly celebrations topic!
How do you like your pizza? DisneyDudet asked what’s your favorite, do you
dip it and what’s the weirdest pizza to you? Here are what some INTERCOTees
had to say on the topic. martinfamilyof5: “I love white (Alfredo) chicken
pizza with roasted garlic”; cantgetenuff: “Weirdest thing I've seen on a
pizza- SHRIMP!”; snowflakegirl: “I usually go with the old traditional
standby of pepperoni, but I also love mushroom, plain cheese, onions and
chicken.”; AvonleaCF: “Plain cheese. New York style.”; brownie: “I'll eat
just about any kind of pizza, but I draw the line at anchovies.” And
GoinGoofyPlanninThisTrip put it simply: “As long as it’s got meat on it, I'm
o.k.” The most popular “dip” for pizza amongst those who dip: ranch. Mmm…looks
like it’s pizza for dinner tonight!
