National Treasures Exhibit Comes to Epcot

One of the most amazing collections of real-life Americana ever assembled "National Treasures" debuts at the American Adventure pavilion September 26. "These are the jewels of museums and foundations all over the country, all gathered in one place," said Jim Clark, Walt Disney Imagineering Ambassador Representative. The collection, located in the American Heritage Gallery, will be continually changed.

This sounds like an amazing addition to the American pavilion. Maybe now people will come in and hear the equally fabulous Voices of Liberty perform. – rsumrall

PGA Tour Stop at Disney World Name Changed

For the first time its 25-year history, the Children’s Miracle Network name will be prominently associated with a professional sports event when the 2007 Children’s Miracle Network Classic presented by Wal-Mart takes place November 1-4 at Walt Disney World Resort. A six-year agreement between Children’s Miracle Network, Walt Disney World Resort and the PGA TOUR will put the Children’s Miracle Network name on the tournament through 2012. Tickets are on sale now. Guests can call the Children's Miracle Network Classic hotline at 407-824-2250 for more information.

Goodbye MGM - Hello Disney's Hollywood...

In the Walt Disney World theme park famous for all things Hollywood, it's curtain up on the launch of new attractions, new looks, new breakthrough experiences...and a brand-new name.  Disney-MGM Studios will be renamed Disney's Hollywood Studios, effective January 2008, announced Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort.

I'm sure it will take some time to call it by its new name, but it sure sounds like a move in the right direction. – mainemajor

I don't know what to think about the name change. I will always call refer to it as MGM and actually prefer that over Hollywood Studios. – angedeaile

It is going to be hard getting used to not calling it Disney MGM Studios anymore, but I like this name MUCH better than Disney-Pixar Studios. I hope there are more attractions coming to the park than on the list, but I am really excited about Toy Story Mania. – disneygecko

Muppet Mobile Lab Arrives in Epcot

After a brief appearance at Disney's California Adventure in California, the Muppet Mobile Lab has started a limited engagement in Epcot's Future World. The roving lab is part of a play test that will allow Disney Imagineering to try out advanced robotic, interactive and transportation technologies, mixed with human comedy talent. There is no certainty at this time whether the Muppet Mobile Lab will become a permanent feature.  The ideas could be transferred to a variety of other characters and locations, said Christopher Holm, Director of the principal technical staff.

With over 53,000 threads and more than 670,000 posts, the discussion boards can seem like an overwhelming place, but luckily we have a quick search function to help. Using a quick search on the discussion boards is a great way to find an old thread you want to refer to or a great way to find answer to a question you think may have been asked before. So let’s take another look at quick search functions.

 If you know which forum a past thread was posted or where a past answer may be the “search this forum” option is a nice way to narrow down your search. On the other hand if you are not sure of the forum, the “search” option will scan the whole boards for you. To use these features simply click on their appropriate buttons. The “search” button is in the top toolbar at the top of every discussion board page. The “search this forum” button is at the top of the forum section on every main forum page. Clicking on both these buttons will produce a drop down form for you to enter your key words in. Once you have entered your key words, you just click the “go” button to the right of the form and you are on your way.

Magical Disney Milestones for the Month of August:

1969 – On August 16^th Disneyland attendance hit a record 82,516 visitors.

1986 - The U.S. Senate passed Public Law 99-391 on August 23^rd designating December 5, 1986 as “Walt Disney Recognition Day.”

1995 – On August 4^th Ground was broken for Animal Kingdom.

1996 – Disney’s “Aladdin and the King of Thieves” was released directly to video on August 13^th.

1999 – After 44 years of operation, the Disneyland Hotel’s Monorail Café closed on August 6^th to make way for Downtown Disney.

2006 – “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?--Play It!” had its last show at Disney-MGM Studios on August 19^th.

I hope that everyone had a spectacular Independence Day!  Thank you John for posting the Declaration of Independence on the front page as a reminder to us on why we are all so lucky to live in a free country!  Here’s a look back at the Water Cooler happenings in July:

Friday parties in July included the Get a Hug for the Mickey Bug Party (featuring the Neon Drink), the Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh lala Lollipop Friday Party (featuring the Lollipop drink), and for all the chocolate lovers out there, the Cocoa Mocha Choco-lotta Blast (featuring the Chocolate Martini).  Thanks Jamie and Rob for another fun-filled month of Friday parties!

Ever wonder what is the average age of INTERCOT members?  snifflesmcg posed the question and it looks like the majority of our members (70%) are between the ages of 25 to 45.  Remember, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires that children under the age of 13 cannot register on the boards.  So, if you do see someone posting that they are underage, please use the “Report Post” feature.

Did you know that July 4^th is not only Independence Day, it’s also Tom Sawyer Fence Painting Day?  Other celebrations in July included Toss Away the “Could-haves” and “Should-haves” Day, Ratcatcher’s Day, National Drive-Thru Day, Gorgeous Grandma Day, Teddy Bear Picnic Day, Gummi Worm Day and Be a Dork Day.  Thank you Jeanne for entertaining us with another month of wacky celebrations!

Congratulations to Stitchahula on the birth of son Justin (born on Independence Day).  And we had another INTERCOT wedding: MScholl13 got married on July 5th!  Best wishes to all of you!
