June was busting out all over—and now the Insider is bursting full of great information. In this edition we continue our kick-off to the summer season with lots of helpful information for a summer trip to “the world”. In this issue we show you how to count down to your summer vacation on your computer, keep you up-to-date on the latest around Walt Disney World and the INTERCOT site, and take a look back at the May water cooler happenings. - Pirates of the Caribbean Reopens -
The classic Magic Kingdom attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean has reopened after its lengthy rehab. Captain Jack Sparrow and his nemesis Barbossa have been woven into the attraction's most familiar scenes. At this time the ride is expected to remain open through the published re-opening date of July 7th. However there is potential for some down-time on the ride to work out any bugs in the newly added effects.

- Disney Announces "Year of a Million Dreams" -
This October Disney will launch the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration. The year-long event will feature the debut of an incredible lineup of new attractions and entertainment at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts. For the first time, during the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration, Disney cast members will award a million dreams, both large and small, to guests selected through a random process as part of a unique "Disney Dreams Giveaway" promotion. The celebration runs October 2006 through September 2007.

- Choose Your Team on Mission: Space -
Beginning May 19, 2006 guests can select between joining the Orange Team or Green Team when they "Choose to Go" on Mission: Space. Green Team riders will not experience any G-Forces. This new version is more suited for guests who are prone to motion sickness or have other health conditions. Orange Team members will ride the original sequence without any modifications. Guests will obtain a pass for either team before entering the building. They must then give this ticket to the Cast Member prior to loading to ensure they have selected the correct ride variation.

I had my expectations fairly low for Green Team Less Intense Training. I was pleasantly surprised … we still felt acceleration on liftoff and what-not and were very impressed. -Swimmergirl

- The Laugh Floor Comedy Club -
This all-new Tomorrowland experience, scheduled to debut in early 2007, gives Magic Kingdom guests the opportunity to participate in a live, interactive comedy show with some of their favorite characters from Monsters Inc., including Mike Wazowski. Having discovered that "laughter is 10x more powerful than scream, "The Laugh Floor at Monsters Inc. has been transformed into a comedy club for visiting humans- the goal: gather big laughs and plenty of them. Mike and his fellow comedians provide interactive opportunities for guest participation, using classic techniques such as improv and of playful teasing. This brand new show will occupy the space that was formerly home to the Timekeeper attraction.

- All-Star Music Family Suites Open -
The first set of Family Suites opened June 11, 2006. The 6 person suites are located in Jazz Building #2 of the All Star Music Resort and feature a family room, master bedroom, kitchenette and two bathrooms. Construction is underway to open another set of suites later this summer. The total 192 suites, spread between the Jazz Buildings #2 & #9 and Calypso Buildings #1 & #10, are slated to be complete by Mid-October 2006.

If you are in the market to purchase a Disney Vacation Club and want to enjoy the savings and variety available in the resale marketplace, a common question buyers want to know is why the different properties have different prices. If all points are equal than why is Beach Club $95 per point and Vero Beach $65 per point? The answer is location, supply and demand, and your "Home Resort Priority."

Certain Locations are highly demanded and there is a limited amount of inventory available by Disney as well as in the resale market. Beach Club, BoardWalk and Wilderness Lodge are properties located next to theme parks and have the highest demand. Due to the resorts location the demand continually grows and this creates a higher sale price on the resale market. Many buyers choose to be placed on a wait list for these locations and pay a premium to have their home resort at their desired location.

The supply and demand of resorts available can also effect the resale prices. If there are more properties available at a certain location than the prices tend to be competitive or slightly less. If there is only one property available for a location then the price is typically higher.

The final reason why certain resorts are more expensive than others is because of your "home resort priority." At your home resort you will have the option to book up to 11 months in advance from the date you want to travel. For members who do not own at your home resort, they can only book up 7 months in advance. Having this priority is one of the main reasons why certain locations are more expensive than others. Members want to know that they can get in at the home resorts and are willing to pay a premium price in order to get the booking priority.

My advice to anyone in the market to buy a Disney Vacation Club property is not to buy the most expensive or not to buy the most popular, but the resort you and your family love and can see using 3 to 5 times in the next 10 years.

Welcome back to Across the Boards. With many INTERCOTee’s summer vacations drawing near, lets take a look at how to use the Disneytime Countdown Timer to help with counting down those final days before a trip. To install the timer (located in INTERCOT’s Interactive section) follow the following steps:

1) Click on the following link: Disneytime Countdown Timer

2) When your computer asks you to download the file, choose "save to disk".

3) The file will be saved to your default download location (probably your desktop if you have not set one).

4) Then extract the files from the zip file to a location of your choosing.

5) An icon with a castle will appear at the location you have chosen, right click on it and choose "create shortcut".

6) The same icon will appear, but now with an arrow in the bottom left hand corner. Click and drag this icon onto you desktop.

You are finished.

To use the program, Double click on the castle icon on your desktop and the count-down timer will pop-up. Using the setup button on the timer you can put in your trip date.

Well, think again! hope2survive polled INTERCOTees on what to wear to a job interview, Beckybalz wanted to know if a pantsuit was appropriate for a night wedding and Awesome_guy asked advice on how to stretch out a sweater that shrunk in the wash. So, even though it’s not a Paris fashion house, you can get some good advice from your fellow board members on what to wear for a specific occasion!

Jamie’s Friday parties for May included the official INTERCOT Cinco de Mayo Celebration, the Hug-a-Bug, Not a Rug Party, the Fast Car NASCAR Winners Circle, and the Tiara and Tu-tu Par-tay. Thank you Jamie, Nigel and cabana boys for providing us with a great month of partying!
