Default Water Park & More Ticket Question

We travel to Orlando yearly but only visit Disney about 3 days on our weekly trip. We have been purchasing 10 day tickets with the no expiration and using them for several year. Me and my DH have 10 days water park & more tickets with the idea that it will be MANY years before we would need to purchase water park tickets since we would only plan on going once per trip. We are getting ready to purchase a ticket for our 6 year old. We are thinking of getting him the same 10 day water park and more ticket. We would use up the park tickets before he turns 10 but not all the pluses. What would happen to the extra water park tickets after he turns 10? Anyone with any experience can help with this question??

You will be able to switch the child ticket for an adult ticket when he turns 10, no issues at all.

Yes, that's correct. As I like to jokingly say, Disney doesn't penalize people for getting older.
