Default MK and HS dinning questions

Hi!

Would counter service or one of the non character sit downs with a reservation be better at MK Presidents weekend for lunch??? To save money we are doing breakfast at home and want to do a big lunch and then snacks for dinner.
Recommendations for restaurant choice CS or Sitdown would be appreciated. we have only eaten at pico bills, liberty tree and crystal palace, so would love to hear what else is good for CS and Table service.

Also we got 8:30 pm reservation for the Sci-Fi dinner and plan on just having dessert after the fantasmic show Saturday....does that sound like a good idea or too hurried and too much food since we got the dinner package at Mama Melrose(those reservation are for 3:10 pm???? )

Thanks so much for your help!

I forgot how much fun all this planning is!!!

As far as MK, if you go the counter service route, consider Columbia Harbor House. It seems to be overlooked by a lot of people and has an additional upstairs dining area that is helpful during busier times. I am not sure how "big" of a lunch you could eat there, so you could also check out the menu at Tony's Town Square. That would make for a more substantial meal. We ate at the Plaza once and wouldn't return there again- they basically offered burgers and sandwiches that we felt weren't much better than the CS places.

One other thought to consider would be hopping on the monorail (or boat) to head to one of the nearby resorts for lunch. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is great, and there are also good restaurants at the Contemporary and Grand Floridian. You could even take the boat to Wilderness Lodge and eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe-- the servers like to have fun with the guests there. Obviously any of these options would require some extra time, but if you plan to get to MK early and stay late, it might be nice to have a break in the day...

you know that is a great idea! thanks !!!

We had thought of going to Whispering Canyon for breakfast but the parking thing was not working out, see planning thread LOL. So then we opted for the Breakfast at home and lunch at the park.

Since we don't have park hoppers can we go in and out again on the same day and is that a hassle since we are not staying on property???

Yes, you may leave and re-enter the same park without a park hopper. To get to WL you would just take the appropriate boat and return to MK the same way. It doesn't matter if you aren't staying on property. Our family loves the theming of WL- it definitely feels like you have left the park!
