First time EVC renter
Any advice? FIL is coming with us - just had hip replaced and is about to have second one done after our trip. Walks, but rather slowly and is worried about slowing us all down! Trying to convince him EVC is the way to go this time. What are pros/cons of renting from Apple or at the parks?

Apple is a lot cheaper and has great customer service. At the parks is more "convenient" because you don't have to worry about carrying it back to your hotel room and storing it. You also don't have to worry about charging it up. Another concern is size. Depends on how large a man your FIL is. If he's smaller (less than 300lbs) then the small, portable ECV from Apple is perfect. If he is larger, you would have to get the bigger ECV and it's not nearly as portable. The small one breaks down and fits in a car trunk. The big one is pretty much fixed.
So, there's good points about both. I rented for my DS11 last January from Apple. He had knee injury from football and couldn't walk. The ECV was wonderful for him and enabled him to keep up and enjoy himself. Apple had great customer service throughout. We even had an issue where the battery was bad on the first unit. They had a completely new unit delivered to us at the park in less than an hour.

Thanks for the info. He is not a big guy - 5'10", maybe 160ish. How hard is it to store at the room? We are staying at Pop and will not have a car, we use Disney transportation.

Last December I rented from Apple. Great service. It was just DD and me at CBR and I had one of the larger scooters. It fit fine in the room.
For our April and August trips I brought my own ECV with me. Mine is smallerthan the rental. It fit fine in POFQ with 4 people for our April trip. August was a breeze as well. I just move the table over a bit at POFQ to charge it up next to the window. In August we were at OKW with 4 people for one night and then AKL with just DD and I. No problems with either of those resorts. At AKL there was a plug just outside the bathroom, in front of the kitchenette. That is where I kept the ECV.
I am sure my smaller scooter would have fit nicely at POP if I move the table over a bit. I used the busses for all my transportation to and from AKL. The drivers were nice and willing to help. They looked shocked when I could park it in one try...lol.
I don't think you should have any problems. Have a great trip.

DW has her own full sized ECV. I rent a similar unit from Apple. Two yrs ago, we had ample room for both in Pop.
I did a bit of research, and found Apple gave the best deal, with insurance included.
Never had any problems with the rental.
No problems with WDW buses either.

i also recommend Apple.
as far as storing in your room. Just put it in a corner. it's easy to store.
