Default crowds jan 1-6

Any guesses on crowds during this time period. We were greatly encouraged when discounts came out for jan 2, but still wondering what everyone thinks crowds will be like. We're going with children and grand children-12 altogether. Thanks

I think the crowds will fall quickly this year - given when the New Year's holiday falls. The beginning of your trip is likely to be quite busy with crowds dropping steadily throughout your trip.

I agree, lots of people will be heading right back to work/school.

We arrived on the 3rd last year, and it was already quite quiet, with the only "blip" in our vacation being the marathon weekend (which was more crowded, but so fun to watch).

One word of potential caution though, I know our school board (up here in Canada) has changed our winter break, so kids are off the first week of January. Not sure if that has happened anywhere in the US. If so, a few more people could stay on, but crowds will be quite low overall.

Our kids don't go back to school this January until the 9th, and they are pretty much in the "normal" category of school calendars. It may be busier than in years past simply because of when Christmas and New Years fall this year.

"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."

We were there from 12/31 - 1/7 this year. It was really busy on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and then pretty quiet the rest of the week.

If many school systems are off this entire week that I would imagine it could end up being quite busy!

It sure could be Faline. If I'm not mistaken, the Marathon starts that weekend as well. It could truly be as busy as Christmas week! But I may be mistaken on the marathon dates. I'm too lazy to go look it up...

We went during that time period several years ago and it was the best trip we ever had.
Crowd levels were low after the 1st and we never had more than a 30 min wait for any ride, with most 10 minutes or less. Not sure if that is still the case, good luck and have fun

With the fact that some schools don't go back until the 9th and marathon weekend is 6th-8th, it could definitely be more crowded than this week normally has been in the past.

And don't forget our South American friends (particularly the Brazilians) who have greatly increased attendance at WDW for the month of January.
