Birthday cakes

Is there a way to order personalized birthday cakes to be delivered during a meal at Disney restaurants? I thought I remembered they had a special number to call or website to order them.

Yes there is. A few years ago my DD and her in-laws were at WDW over her birthday and I had a personalized cake delivered to their table at 1900 Park Fare. It has been a few years but I think I called the restaurant directly and they transferred me to the bakery that takes care of it. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. I do know it went off without a hitch. It was a surprise but I did let her mil know so that in case it didn't appear at least I would know about it.

There are two options for you. And the options depend on where you want the cake delivered. There are no "on-line" options available through Disney, so it is all done through a phone call.

1. For "fancy cakes" - meaning cakes that are very cool and shaped in images such as the Mad Hatter's hat - these are usually covered in fondant. For these you must be staying at (or dining in a resort restaurant at one of these) the Grand Floridian, the Boardwalk, the Animal Kingdom, the Yacht & Beach, or the Contemporary. Call the private dining number of that resort (room service dining). If you are dining there, you must have your ressie number with date/time. I've heard that you *could* pick up fancy cakes at the Boardwalk Bakery, but I cannot confirm this. If you want room delivery, you must be staying at the resort you call.

2. For simple cakes, call the "cake hotline" at 407-827-2253. These will be decorated, but not elaborate things.

If you do a google search of images, you'll see some of the masterpieces that the chefs come up with.

I've used the cake hotline number in the above post twice. I ordered a 10 year anniversary cake for DH and I that was delivered to Yachtsman Steakhouse. On another trip I ordered a Mickey head shaped cake for my son's 9th birthday that was delivered to Whispering Canyon Cafe. Both cakes were excellent and I had no problems getting either of them ordered and delivered.

just curious do they make a big deal if they deliver a cake. we are going in two weeks to celebrate two things our anniversary(which is today) and my daughters birthday. just curious what happens at a resturant when the cakes delivered.

In our experience, not much happened. For our anniversary the cake was delivered by our server, he said "congrats on the anniversary" and he took a picture of DH and I with the cake when we requested. That was it.

For DS's birthday our server brought out the cake, announced the bday, and led "Happy Birthday". However, I saw other servers do the same thing when delivering the free birthday cupcake. This was completely fine with us. We weren't looking for any over the top attention, and we felt the cake and "happy birthday" was perfect for us. Not sure if your expecting more, but this was our experience.

I surprised my wife for our anniversary just a couple of weeks ago while we had lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table and ordered the mousse filled chocolate glass slipper over white cake. It was awesome and ordering was pretty easy. I had called the Disney cake number (407-827-2253) and the rest of the ordering was done through e-mail/order form. Plenty of options to choose from. Although our server almost gave it away but good thing my wife didn’t hear it.

We ordered a cake through the cake hot-line for my niece's 30th bday. Choices were chocolate, marble or white cake, with 3 choices of filling ( I remember buttercream and white chocolate mousse as options) and then several frosting choices. We just had it delivered to our room at BLT. Arrived by room service on a tray at the designated time with little plates, forks, napkins, and a cake server. Beautiful buttercream frosting with a white chocolate TinkerBell sculpture on top and Happy Birthday greeting. It was a big hit and delicious.
