Default walking Talking Mickey at MK

There is a walking Talking Mickey at MK. I am not sure how I feel about this since I am so used to him not talking.

What do you think ?

Do you mean a life size character? Is the character talking or is it prerecorded? I don't think I would like it if Mickey didn't have the 'right' voice.

That's news to me. I've never heard or seen him. Where is he located?

Mickey does (or did) talk during the Welcome Show but I didn't see a talking-walking Mickey in the actual park in June. Is this new?

Yes, he's rather new. He was introduced on a trial basis at Disneyland last summer. I wasn't aware he was already making the rounds in the parks regularly, though.

Don't worry, he has the "right" voice. Or, he has "current Mickey's" voice.

No kidding. People are still arguing over the voice of the narration on Spaceship Earth.

I like no talking. But this is the multimedia age, where kids need stimuli from ipods to the internet 24/7, so that includes talking Mickey. Pretty soon, you'll be able to surf the web on Buzz Lightyears suit when you go to meet him.

I saw the video of the "trial run" talking Mickey at DL, and I thought it was very well done. The little kid in the video probably had no idea he was one of the first ever to experience that.
I think if it is done right, as this test seems to have been done, then it will be OK. I think a meet & greet with a talking Mickey would be cool, after all he DOES speak in his cartoons.

Until each of my kids turned about 6 or 7, my father would call them on their birthdays as Mickey Mouse and wish them Happy Birthday. They always believed they were talking to Mickey. If you have the right male voice with a Midwestern accent, the falsetto is not that hard to do.

There has been a talking Mickey in the daily stage show for months. Obviously this is pre-recorded. Personally, I think it's pretty bizarre, and that's from far away. Not sure how I'd feel about it in a meet 'n greet setting.

I am not 100% sure that the "meet and greet" version of this Micky is pre-recorded. There are many devices on the market that can "alter" the sound of a voice to sound like something else, so it's entirely possible that one of these devices is part of the costume, and whatever "Mickey" says can come out sounding like it should. I suppose there would have to be some basic scripts to follow, for continuity sake, but the ability to speak a child's name would really up the magic during a meet and greet with little ones.

You can check out the meet and greets at Disneyland with talking Mickey on youtube. They are definitely not pre recorded as it is personalized and very well done. Was hoping it would come to Florida so I am so happy to hear he has arrived!

While Mickey and some of his friends talk during shows and presentations at WDW parks, he unfortunately must save his voice and remains silent during all current meet and greets on property. The encounter seen on YouTube from Disneyland is not available at WDW.

Yet...

Perhaps the OP can let us know if he/she actually SAW this talking Mickey, or just "heard about it." The original post is unclear.

That is true BrerGnat I assumed the OP meant meet n greet mickey and not just the show which has been that way for quite sometime now. So if the original poster can write again and tell us which one they meant?

I'm all for it. I'd much rather interact with a talking character. I find it more awkward when they don't talk but simply mime, particularly during meals. It's one of the reasons I avoid character dining.
