Question what would you do?

We have ressies for 6ppl at various restaurants during our trip in Jan. There are now only going to be 5 of us traveling on this trip. Should I cancel the current ressies & make them for 5ppl or just leave what I have & let them know when we arrive at each location. I just dont want to loose any of our time slots.

You could call, but I agree that you wouldn't want to lose any reservations and the table size needed for a party of six vs party of five is about the same. The problem you might run into is that some venues won't seat you until your whole party is present and they might consider it a whole new reservation to change numbers at the desk-- though that seems exceptionally rude and I doubt they would actually give you any problems.

The other thing is that I've heard Disney accepts ADRs according to any restaurant's given crowd capacity and your one less person might allow for another party to be seated, number wise. Though that's probably a stretch, considering it's only person. So... the right thing to do is probably to call but the wise thing to do might be to just mention it on arrival. And of course, we're overthinking it because we're Disney fans and talk about such things. Most people would probably just change it on arrival. We'll see what some others say because like you, I am torn.

I wouldn't cancel.I would call and just change the number of people. That should be no problem at all. That way it would free up a spot for someone else.

Default Cancell or not to cancell

Do not cancel. I have had this situation many times. There is no difference between 5 or 6. Now if it were 4 to 2 thats another story. Invite me and I can be your Sixth! I'll pay the gratuity.

We went from 7 to 6 on our trip when DH left early because he was sick. I didn't run into any problems when checking in at our ADRs. As a matter of fact, our last meal was at 1900 and it went from 7, to 6, to just me & DD because the other 4 couldn't get out of bed. If I'd known they were going to be no-shows I would've attempted to alert the restaurant beforehand, but we didn't know until we were leaving for the ADR. I know in the "real world" going from a 7-top to a 2-top can be a drag for servers, but Disney just seems to go with the flow.

Long story short, I'm sure it's easier to accommodate a party with less people than originally planned, than to add more after the fact.
