any suggestions for drilling same holes in shells

I have been making baskets and wanted to try using some shells I have found as decorations on the front of some of them.

They would have to have a small hole drilled in them. Has anyone ever tryed to do that? Will I just end up with a bunch of broken shells?

Start with a really small bit and use very light pressure.

If that doesn't work, there are drill bits you can get for drilling into glass. Again, start with a small bit and light pressure.
