Hello Again
Hello everyone! I know it has been eons since I have been on here. Things have been hectic at work and at home.
In a nutshell:
WORK: apparently our clients are all being audited at the same time - so we are having to pull records for the past several years - provide explainations as to why we did what we did. Now every little detail has to be documented and everything "in writing".
HOME: We moved into our new home 1.5 years ago. WE LOVE IT!!!! My oldest step-daughter - still working on her Anorexia. We stopped taking her to the specialist & nutritionist - she got better. She still sees a therapist twice a month. She still weighs less than 100 (95). But she seems happy. She is very active with school. She turned 16 in Feb. She now has her drivers license
The youngest turned 14 in June. She started high school. She joined the track team - Cross Country. She hurt her foot a few weeks ago. Then last week she got the swine flu She is better now and back in school. Her mom is getting worried about her weight now. Since she is on the track team - she's burning more calories than what she is eating. She too is very active with school.
We have not seen the girls in 5 weeks They always have something going on during the weekends.
DH & I are fine. He had to go away to school/training for work 6 times this year. 1 week each time. He just came back last week. This was [hopefully] his last time this year. He will have to go at least 3 times next year [that he knows of right now]. It's not like he's a newby. He's been with IBM for 22 years.
I had my physical last week. Apparently my Vitamin D level is down. They said it was 20. The normal range is 20-100. My doctor wants to put me on 50,000IU for 2.5 months. I'm confused as to how my levels can be that low. I drink milk, I eat dairy products. Granted I don't get out in the sun - but still, how can it be that low? I'm thinking of having them check it again with a new blood test.
Does anyone know anything about this?

I recently had mine checked and it was low...my mom drinks tons of milk and hers was low..I asked my healthcare provider and she said most of the people they check are low now because the best way to get Vitamin D is direct sunlight...the best time is during the hottest part of the day and now they tell people not to go out without sunscreen at that time, so a lot of people are low

I just had my vitamin D level checked this week too. I do not have the results back yet though. My doctor told me that this is a common thing. Even though you drink milk, most people do not consume enough vitamin D in their diets.

Dawn and Denise both have very low vitamin D. Their drs have also recommended more sunlight. They also take Vitamin D pills as well.
Theirs was as low as 10. They have to be checked regularly.

Wow maybe I should have mine checked. If it is low maybe the doctor will prescribe a trip to Disney to get some needed sunlight

So I really shouldn't worry about it? Just get outside more?

Since I can't swallow pills - I called around to see if the Rx can come in another form. It can't. I found Gummy D-3 vitamins. They are 1,00IU each. I've been taking 5 of those a day and walking outside. I'm feeling better. I'm not as tired anymore. I don't take all 5 at one time. I take 2 with breakfast, 2 with lunch and 1 just before I leave work (I have them on my desk).
I'm also drinking the Cranenergy drink. The Cranberry juice w/ Green Tea. It's pretty good.
