Water parks in November
I would like to schedule our next trip during a time that the Christmas decorations are up; however, my DS (13) only wants to go when the water parks are open. How late in the year do they stay open?

water parks are open year round. With that being said they close one of the parks down for refurb doing the "winter". I know when we went in December BB was open so I'm guessing TL will be the one open this time. Enjoy your trip Christmas is an awesome time to go.

The water parks close down for winter refurbishments. Check Intercots refurb page for more info

Not only have I been to a packed BB in December... I've chillaxed in POFQ's pool at midnight on Christmas Eve.
But that only proves it CAN be nice the winter, it doesn't mean it WILL be, there are plenty of cooler days, so it's hard to say if you'll want to BB or not when the time comes.

Each winter one of the water parks will close for refurb, they generally alternate each year to ensure that each water park undergoes biennial refurbishment to keep things fresh. However the infocentral page on intercot states that Typhoon Lagoon will be the one to close this year, someone on this thread said that was the one to close last year so it may not be that simple. Either way it says that Typhoon Lagoon closes on 1st November.
In 2004 we were in Florida from October 21st until November 5th. One water park (forget which) closed for the winter while we were there so we went to that one early in our trip. We went to the other one late on in our trip and we didn't find it cold at all in late October or early November. That said we're British so we're used to the cold, we have to be tough in what others would call cold weather.

Actually, both water parks usually close for refurbishment each year, but one is always open. Typically, one park will close for about 2 months, and when it reopens the other will close.
This past year, the Typhoon Lagoon wave pool needed a major refurbishment. To accomodate this, BB closed for refurb earlier than usual, and then TL was closed for a much longer period than usual.
Since TL is closing in November, BB will likely be closing in January or late December.

I didn't realise that, thanks. I knew that they only ever closed one at a time so there was still one open but I wasn't aware they closed both at different times of the same year.

Thanksgiving Day 2008 my family and I were at BB and LOVED every second of it! TL was closed but the water was heated to about 80 degrees and during the daytime the weather peaked around 83 degrees.... all and all we can't wait to do it again this Thanksgiving!

We got in the pool in late October after dark. The pool was warm. The walk back to the hotel wasn't!
