I recently got married at Sandals in Negril, Jamaica. It was the best experience of my life. The staff and resort were amazing. I highly recommend it. Also, I talked with many other guests, and they all stated that the Sandals in Negril was the best one they've ever stayed at.
Montego Bay is nice. Very touristy. Also, I've heard there are issues with employees stealing from guests.
I had a friend stay at Couples Resort in Negril and he said it was equally enjoyable. If you do go to Negril, pleave visit Ricks Cafe at Sunset. Make dinner reservations there. It will be worth it.

I was only in Jamaica for 1 day on a cruise and it didn't feel very safe. If you are going to go, I'd do an all inclusive and do your sightseeing excursions through the resort you stay at.

We won a trip to Jamaica years ago. I mean years ago 18years. Anywho we were placed in Momtigo Bay. It was right on the sea. We had the beach at our door. It's beatuiful we had a great time. Go to the falls I think there in Kingston but don't quote me. It was fun walking up them. Also an odd thing take extra hair spray. We went to town and I had my hair done in braids and they only wanted the hair spray for payment ! We gave it to her because I had another bottle at the hotel. We also payed her for her service. But that was wierd. Have fun in what ever place you choose.

Sandals resorts are great (and I've heard the Couples ones are also), but they are strictly for couples, and it sounds like you're going with a friend? If you want a Sandals-type experience, there's always the Beaches resorts in Jamaica. However, you probably will encounter a lot of kids there. Montego bay is closest to the airport, but I've heard that Negril beaches are the best (though that's the one part of Jamaica I haven't been to). Oh, and Dunn's River is in Ocho Rios (the opposite side of the island from Negril). It is lots of fun! There's lots of great deals right now on all-inclusives. Have fun!

I have stayed at both Sandals Negril and Couples Negril. Both were very nice. Of the two, I prefer Sandals, but Couples is less expensive. As previous posted, they do not allow same sex at either resort. If you are travelling with a friend of the same sex then go for Beaches. Lots to do here.
