POFQ or POR?
We're considering staying at either POFQ or POR for an upcoming trip. In the past we've stayed mainly at the values so this time we want to try something else. Our party will consist of 3 adults (who act like kids!) Which would you choose and why??

I have stayed at both and prefer POFQ but I will give you some details to help you decide:
POR
Has TS resturant
Larger Resort
Larger Acarde
Larger Gift Shop
POFQ
Smaller Resort (less walking)
Generally first picked up by buses (not always)
Generally first dropped off buses (not always)
Both
Nice pool area
Boat service to Downtown Disney
Less "groups" than Value resorts
Centrally located for all parks & DTD
Both are good selections!

I would say POFQ but I'm sure POR is nice too!

I just got back from POR two days ago. I had never stayed at a moderate, only value and deluxes. I was very impressed with riverside. the grounds are beautiful, the pool is nice with lots of trees around the chairs for some shade, and the main building with gift shop, food court, and table service is easily accessible and has everything one would need. I was hesitant to stay at a moderate, because I thought I either wanted the basics from a value or the luxury of a deluxe, but i was very happy with it. It definitely isn't as beautiful and magical as the Grand Floridian, but it isn't as loud and childish as Pop.
I did get a chance to see POFQ and was not as impressed. It is painted in gaudy colors and lacks the quaintness of riverside. They had a very small food court, and the pool looked like a cheap fair ride.
If you do switch to a moderate, I most definitely recommend Riverside over FQ.

POFQ!
The rooms are very comfortable and decorated with a FQ feel. POFQ has a great feel to it, very relaxed and the CM's there were all outstanding. We truly enjoyed our stay.
If you want a room close to the bus stop and main building, ask for building 4! It took us about 30 seconds to get to the bus stop. We were spoiled!!

I have only stayed at POFQ, but my wife has stayed at both and prefers POFQ. Don't get me wrong both are nice, but she likes POFQ better for some of the reasons listed above.
I have stayed at the other moderates before and would probably put POFQ at the top of the list for one of the best moderate choices.
We buy the middle of the road dining plan each time and always end up back at POFQ for the counter service. There are a number of things to pick from that aren't the usual counter service choices. It's a good change of pace for the kids too.

I like FQ best but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

.....we like the Riverside and have stayed there exclusively, however we've been over to the FQ several times and it's a very nice resort as well.....we'd probably give the FQ a shot, but we're a fam of 5....
....I don't think you'll have a problem with either....
....the busses do stop there first in the AM, then over to the Riverside, but the few that get on at the FQ don't really fill 'em up.....we've never had a problem getting on ......

We just got back from POFQ. We stayed in Building five. We were two seconds from the food court. Maybe two minutes from the pool and about 3 minutes from the bus. We also enjoyed very much the boat ride to downtown Disney. However, there was one little tiny glitch. The bus would pick us up for whatever park that day, but we would also do POR. Every stop. Then when we came back from AK, we would have to go to Blizzard Beach to pick up everyone from there. The bus driver would pack em in with soaked swim suits, and the bus would smell like a swimming pool. From time to time, we would take taxi's on Disney property. It was great. If you have an early ADR for breakfast in another resort or park, taking a taxi is the way to go. It's not that expensive. Let us know what you decide.

I couldn't say it better. We love POFQ. It was always my dream resort and when we finally tried it I was not disappointed.

Thanks for the responses so far. Buses won't be an issue for as because we will have a car with us and usually drive to the parks. Right now looks like we're leaning towards POFQ because it looks smaller and might be a little more quiet at night. Keep the opinions coming though!

First of all, let me say we loved staying at POFQ last September so much that we are going back this year. We loved the FQ styling and smaller resort. However, the one glitch is the single pool. The one night we tried to use it a child had a little "accident" and they closed the pool for treatment. Yes, we could have gone to POR to use the pools there but it just didn't seem worth the short hike to do so.
Not a huge deal for us simce we stay at the parks till closing usually, but it may be an issue if you plan on chilling out at the resort.

I truly don't think noise is an issue at either resort and I think you would be happy at either, but I was going to add that there are quiet pools interspersed among the buildings (as well as a main themed pool) at POR, FQ has only the main pool. Might not matter to you. We have enjoyed a few hours at a pool close to our room every trip. Just a thought.

You have more pool options at Port Orleans Riverside, although you can use the pools at either one (Port Orleans French Quarter has only one pool.) I think the food court was better at Riverside. I liked the smaller size of Port Orleans French Quarter.
My preference would probably lean towards Port Orleans Riverside.
