Default Tricky situations?

Here's the situation:
Heading down on the 30th with my husband and another couple (hooray! only 7 more days!!!) and staying off property through Sunday morning. The other couple is leaving Sunday and I'm moving to POR on the 4th taking advantage of the 4/3 package.

Here's my question: my husband isn't doing the package, just staying Sunday night at POR and leaving on Monday morning. We're doing breakfast at Kona on Monday and my sister and I are heading to the MK directly with my husband going to the airport. Will they give us an extra room key at POR (no tickets attached) when we check in for him to use to access the room on Monday morning? We'll have two cars as well--will we be able to get two parking lot passes?

As far as Monday morning for breakfast is concerned, I'm thinking that my sister and I should just park in the MK lot with my husband parking at the Poly.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Most of this came to me while I was half asleep last night!

I'm sure you can get 2 parking passes. We didn't even put ours from Pop in the car window - we did online check-in at 1:30a and I totally forgot it was even in the package until the last day. You will need a room key to access the gate or have the guard wave you through.

I'm not sure about your husband getting a room key. Is he officially registered in the room? That might cause a problem if he's not and you are on a package although I think they can work around it. But if he's driving to the Poly for breakfast then heading to the airport, is there a reason that he doesn't just take all of his stuff with him when you go to breakfast? That's probably what we would do.

Thanks for the input. We'll probably just pack him up before breakfast then. Maybe he'll just cool his heels at the Poly after breakfast until he needs to head out--maybe read a book on the beach or something. The parking passes last for a few hours correct?

Unless you're over the room occupancy limit, you can simply add him at check-in as a room only. Basically, the CM's will check you in with your package and once that has cleared the system, they'll add your husband as a room only occupant. You may be charged $15 for having a 3rd adult in the room, but he'll get a room key, additional parking pass, etc.

Can they do that if they are on a package with tickets? "everyone in the room must be on the same package" or something like that is what I've always read.

Smile I always ask for an extra "key only" card when I check-in...

because I'm concerned about losing my card with my MYW package info.

The CM always marks the "key only" card with a marker so i can distinguish it from my MYW card.

I just feel better about taking the key only card to the pool.

Just to clarify, when you make the reservation, all the people you list must be on the same package. This is different. The OP won't be adding her husband until she arrives. The CM doing the registration will "explode" the current package reservation, issue all the necessary documents and then the reservation will be clear. Basically, set back to zero. At that point, she can add her husband for the one night as a room only. I've done this in the past, where our older daughter was not able to join our trips until we were a few days in. It's absolutely no problem for them to take care of it this way.

Thanks for all the input. I'll discuss it with the crew and see what we'd like to do. Next week this time, I'll be heading to dinner at Emerils!
