dream about river country
I had a dream that we were at Fort Wilderness. Lots of people were lined up to get into somewhere. I realized that it was River Country and got so excited! I asked a worker, "Is River Country open?" She replied,"Just for today. We are having a special day to remember River Country but you have to listen to a speech in that room." I asked,"Will all these people fit in the room." She said,"yes." So I tried to hurry and find my family so we could get in line and fit in the rom too. Then my alarm woke me up!!!!

LOL... I loved RC growing up. We camped at FW and I think we walked there. The big long zip string, the tube river, the slides. I remember my sister and her friends getting busted by Security sneaking in there late at night and being escorted back to my parents.

I always enjoyed RC when I was younger. FW was our place to stay, and RC was a great part of that! We still love FW, but really miss RC

On our honeymoon trip in '76, DW and I spent our last afternoon at RIver Country. Of course then, once you did a couple of days at MK, the only thing left was River Country. It was quite exciting and new for us because that was in the days before all the themed water parks.

Yep. River Country was a very special place back when it was the only water park at WDW. I remember afternoons of watery fun on the Slippery Slide Falls and the Whoop 'n' Holler flumes.
We don't usually recommend other web sites to Intercotees, but you may want to visit one called Walt Dated World. Alison's site includes a very nice tribute to River Country.

how do they keep aligators out of there? I would be scared to go back now. The place has been somewhat abandoned for awhile. Isn't it concerning that families of wildlife might have made a home there.

No doubt that some wildlife (snakes, rodents, birds, maybe even a gator) has made a home inside the old River Country. But since it is permanently closed to guests and there is no plan to re-open it, I don't think that issue has been much of a concern for Disney.
