Default Maine Real Estate Question

Hi,
My husband and I are looking to purchase a camp in Maine. We have found what we like and would like to put in offer in.

We want to make sure the Septic system has been inspected. Here in Massachusetts the seller is responsible for paying for a Title V inspection. Can anyone from Maine tell me what the law is there?

Is the seller responsible for the septic inspection?

I don't have an official answer for you but I'm pretty sure that the inspections are at the expense of the buyer.
Where is the camp you are interested in?

Hi Holly,
We are looking at a camp in Sherman.

In MA the buyer would pay for the house inspection but the seller is responsible for the Title V Septic Inspection.

Our family's camp is on Mattawamkeag lake,a little north of Sherman near Island Falls. Good luck with the buying and hopefully I'll be welcoming you to the "neighborhood" soon!

Ugg --- Title V. When we sold our house in Mass in 2000 --- we failed Title V. $25K to repair.
