Default Footwear in water parks?

What type of footwear do you recommend in the water parks? I'm guessing you need something both from a "sanitary" reason and because the ground is probably hot/rough to walk on (especially for younger ones)? Are you allowed to wear water shoes, etc. on the water slides?

Thanks for your help!

I personally prefer water shoes but I have seen people wearing Teva sandals and Crocs, just to mention a few options. My feet tend to slide in my Crocs when they're wet so I stay away
from them myself.
We had to take our shoes off when we went on the body slides (the ones with no tube). In those cases you just cross your arms across your chest and hold your shoes

We wear the rubber bottom beach shoes you can buy at Walmart. They are great and not very expensive. The first time I did a water park, I didn't think about that and my feet were really hurting from the hot concrete. I dealt with the "not looking so fashionable" to save my feet. They have several styles and colors, so everyone should be happy from the little ones all the way up to the big guy in your life.

Crocs work good at the beach and at water parks. The kind with the heel strap are the best.

At Blizzard Beach, DS, DD, DW and I have worn Timberland, Teva, Columbia and Nike water sandals every trip. Summit Plummet and Slusher Gusher were the only slides where we were required to remove them, along with our swim goggles. Other than that, we always wear them, and have never had any foot problems. Going down SP and SG clutching 3 pairs of sandals and swim goggles was not hard, actually kept my mind off of waiting for that initial over-the-falls drop! Hint: Whenever you pass one of those outdoor showers, take your sandals off and rinse them. Walking the paths at BB, you can pickup small debris in them which you won't notice until later, when they start to cause irritation. I love Nike RCG water sandal model, I have Plantar problems and the Nikes provide very good arch support. Water sandals will help save your feet for future trekking thru the other parks.

Crocs or a really good flip flop would work good. I have seen several people wearing water shoes before, they would probably be a good choice too. Have fun.
