Work in WDW for 47 hours - Is this true?
While we were in WDW last week, a CM was telling us how anyone can work at WDW for 47 hours and receive free admission to the parks for them and up to three others for the entire year! He also said that you get incredible discounts on disney hotels. Has anyone else heard of this? It seems to good to be true for me...if it WERE true, DH would definitely go down and work in WDW for one week to get us all in free for the year. Was he pulling my leg?

A CM at the Magic Kingdom told us the same thing and gave us a card with a number to call on it and everything. We never called though. It almost seems too good to be true!

Well I can't comment on the whole 47 hours thing, but I do know that if you work at WDW and meet a certain minimum each month you do get your Main Gate pass and passes for family.
I'm just not sure what the minimum amount of time is and over what time frame.

In order to get yourself plus three guests in you need a maingate pass which is good for 12 visits per calendar year. HOWEVER, if you are no longer employed by Disney you must surrender your maingate pass.

I know six flags Great Adventre offers a free park ticket for one days worth of work during frightfest when the kids are back in school and they are looking for people to work. Anyone can do a one day work to get a one day ticket. My mom did a day in the Games Department and got to see how ugly people can get when they want something. Funny as she was the one that made me work there for 6 years and told me not to complain. She finally got to see what I had to go thru and said she would never do it again. LOL

The person you spoke to on the phone is right about living here and being available to work right away.
PirateGal and I are FT CM's and we are very happy to be working and living where we are.
For us to get in the parks I'm not telling. Okay we can get in. No worries there. My Mom aka PirateGal has more trouble with her card then I do. I wonder why.
The thing is you've got to be willing to make the big jump down here and start almost right away. But once you do your going to either A love it or B hate it.
I have to update my sig because as of right now it says I'm just Space trained Space Mountain that is. But now I can safely say I'm now also Stitch trained.

Oh my gosh. 47 hrs of work for a year of Disney for free? I'd do it in a heartbeat. Thats essentially a week of work. But...With a home and family theres no taking a leap and making that move. However, my DD is already planning to do a college internship when its time..I told her we'd get a timeshare and all spend the summer in Disney with her!

Okay, I've never worked at Disney, but if somebody at Disney told me about the 47 hour thing, to me it would mean this:
1. You would have to be hired at Disney with the assumption that you are planning on staying there, with all the rules and regulations that go with that, living there, being available to work right away etc..
2. All CM's get passes to the Parks, but you have to have worked a minimum of 47 hours before you will receive this perk.
3. As Auntie_am has stated, once you no longer work for Disney, you MUST return your Maingate pass immediately, which then means you must start paying for your tickets once again.
4. For those who work there, I know of one lady that used to and she got an annual pass for the year, but could only bring friends and family up to a certain amount of times for free and that was it. Do they no longer give annual passes to employees?
This is how this reads to me,

The only thing this sounds like to me is working seasonally. There are different levels of work - FT, PT/CR, and CT/CP.
Full Time - Required to have full availability all year, for all shifts (including overnights).
Part Time/Casual Regular - Maximum of 25 hrs/wk with 2 full days of availability.
Casual Temporary/College Program - Casual Temps are usually the campus recruiters, as well as other seasonal jobs which might be used mostly summers and holidays. I believe the minimum is 40 hrs/year. But I am not sure about being Fla. Resident (it would make sense though).
College Program is also a temporary position, despite their schedules (which is usually what would be FT).
As for the passes, it's not an annual pass - there are blackout dates. But it is good for up to 3 people, 12 times a year (unless you are a CP - then it's 6 times).

my sister worked for disney a few years back..and i remember to keep her status with disney she would work 1 or 2 days each time we went on vacation to disney and that was at least once a year..but only she got in for free...but we all took advantage of her discount!!..so knowing that i dont think this CM was joking you..i can see it being very legit..
