Traveling with liquid medication....
I went to TSA's page and it says that you can have more than 3 oz. of liquid medications and show them seperately. If they are less does it have to be included in the quart size bag? Or do these count towards that limit?

I believe that ffor medicines you can "declare them" to security separatley so that they don't count towards what's in your ziplock bag. My son and I have a slew of medicines and I am putting them all in one carry on bag with his nebulizer machine and will declare that whole bag to security.

If the liquid meds are perscription, they must be in the orig container with the patien name on the lable. put them into a seperate bag and declare them to tsa. required perscription meds are exempt from the 3oz rule.
If the meds are just otc, like dimatappe or benadryl then the 3oz rule applies.
hope this helps

raevnzno is correct. I just flew to Chicago on vacation and liquid prescription medicines must be in their original container and declared to the two (or more) agents you see: the one that verifies your ID and boarding pass and the one or more at the screening point.
If your medicine needs to stay refrigerated/cooled like mine does, put the medicine in a portable cooler pack but also bring along the original container. On my way to Chicago they didn't ask to see it, but on the way back they did.

DS was on meds the last time we went and you have to have them separately from your other liquids. You must show the screeners AND I had to fill out a little form (don't know what that was all about, but they told me I had to, so I did it to get through). No big deal....just do what they ask you and you'll be fine (that's the key to all of this security stuff -- just do what they ask you and you breeze through!).

We traveled through PIT in Dec '06 and Aug '07 with DD's meds (creams, lotions, and ointments for psoriasis) as well as my inhaler and they never asked me to fill out any forms either time and we also declared them to the screener. Perhaps the difference is that ours did still fit in the one quart baggie? Funny how they treat one person differently than another. Life at the airport would be so much easier if they had consistent rules for everyone!

Your pharmacist will also give you a smaller empty container with all your script information on it for you to transfer some of your liquid medication if you are concerned with taking a large amount.

My son was on a lot of meds during our last trip. I carried them all in a cooler and they were large amounts. All in original containers. They barely even looked at them; no problems at all.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure I was clear on what TSA had listed. It is difficult enough to travel with all the restrictions and didn't want to complicate matters and have to throw anything out. I've got the prescription boxes so I'm good to go.
