Poly or BC/YC
I am super insane about planning my Disney trips (as I'm sure most of us are). The past two trips, with DH, DD 6, DS 4, have been at the GF. We LOVED it - not one complaint - everything I could have asked for and more!!!!!!!!! For our next trip (either Nov 08 or Jan 09) I would like to try either Poly or BC/YC. Can you give honest opinions on both. I like the location of the Poly better - and have never stayed there. But I think the BC/YC looks like a nicer resort - I'm just concerned about not being close to MK as that is our favorite park (and my kids are still at that MK age). HELP!!!!

If the MK is your favorite park, I would try the Poly.
The BC/YC is great because of it's location right next to Epcot, as well as Stormalong Bay.

I think you answered your own question.
With the Magic Kingdom as your favorite park, you really can't go wrong by staying at the Polynesian. You will not only have easy access the MK via the monorail, but will be able to see Wishes every night from the resort.
The Beach Club is a great place to stay too, if you are planning to tour Epcot a lot. However, at the time of year you are planning to visit it may be a bit too cool to fully enjoy its other big draw, Stormalong Bay. Personally I don't think that the rooms or other resort areas are nicer at Beach Club than the Polynesian. In fact, I tend to favor the Poly rooms (and bathrooms) as they are larger.

I agree with everyone here. If MK is your primary destination, Poly would be the right choice. It is a beautiful resort. Epcot is really DW and my favorite, so YC/BC would fit us better.

Since it would appear that MK is your primary park the Poly is the spot. It has a boat launch across the Seven Seas Lagoon, resort monorail, next door access to the ferry and Express monorail as ways to get to MK. No other resort has all of those options.

For the reasons mentioned in the other posts, I think the Poly is the way to go. The other thing that keeps us going back to the Poly is that we like to feel like we are going some place tropical when we get away.. Being from New England I don't need to stay at a place that reminds me of home!
10 weeks and counting!

I've stayed at both the BC and the Poly and while I LOVED them both, Poly is the way to go!!!! NEVER underestimate the convenience of being a five minute monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom

Since the kids love the MK then the Poly is the right resort for you. They have a great pool area and the monorail is right there. The other resort is nice too but the Poly I feel is the right one for you.

Poly or BC/YC
Both resorts are so nice but if you want to be close to MK then the Poly is the place for you. They are very nice there and the beach and pool area and dining are top notch. It's hard to go wrong with that decision!

I've stayed both and prefer the Polynesian hands down. I don't know what it was but I just didn't love BC. The pool was great and we spend lots of time at EPCOT so the Internaional gateway was really nice for a quick walk to EPCOT. I love the whole resort area back ther behind EPCOT. However I just like the locationa and themeing of the Poly more. Love the tiki torches and luau music and just hoping on the boar to MK.
Have you thought of splitting your stay?? Then you could stay at both??
My family are just big Polynesain fans so that is always our choice!! Both are decent choices but Poly gets my vote!!!
Happy planning!!!

I am going to be the odd man out here and vote BC. I think it is more "kid friendly". Just my opinion.

If wasn't for the fact that I am a DVC member there would only be one Resort I would ever think of staying at. The Poly.

Never stayed at the BC - but the Poly gets my vote for two reasons:
1) Easy to get to MK
2) TTC is walking distance - which means that EPCOT is easily to get to as well!
The way we look at it, we will have a chance to stay at other resorts when our kids are older and we don't hit the MK at least once a day!

I have not stayed at the Poly yet (but am strongly considering it for my next say) but loved the Beach Club. The kids loved the pool and Beaches and Cream and we all felt at home there. We enjoyed walking to Epcot and taking the boat to the Studios. The Board walk is near and busses pretty convenient, I thought. I loved the pretty pastel decor. But I am considering the Poly next time also due to the convenience. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Having stayed at both Poly and BC, I vote Poly because of the proximity to MK and the rooms themselves. You just cannot describe the ease of hopping on the monorail and being at MK, or more importantly, the efficiency with which you get back to your room after a long day in the park, parades, fireworks, etc.
Also, we had a concierge room at BC vs. a regular garden view at Poly, and we liked the Poly room way better. Of course, some if this is personal preference--we're not crazy about the pastel "beachy" look and old-fashioned quilts in the BC rooms, while the Poly rooms have a darker, richer look about them--and the bedding is nicer. The only downside I can think of with the Poly is that you have to travel outside to get between buildings, and the hallways are darker, narrower and a bit dated.
Good luck with your decision!

The GF is my absolute favorite resort and nothing is quite like it. But I have stayed at the Polynesian and it was a wonderful experience. The Polynesian is the favorite for our kids. It's lush, relaxing, great location- but it's still not the GF. I have thought about trying BC/YC but I just can't imagine staying away from the Seven Seas Lagoon. We did stay at POR once and it just didn't feel like a Disney trip staying out of sight of the MK. For this reason, I recommend you go with the Poly.
