San Angel Inn
Hello all! I thought I had heard great things about San Angel Inn. But, now I'm hearing some not great things about it. I'm really trying to finalize my ADRs. So, I'd really like to know what others think about it. Thanks everyone!

I usually don't care too much for Mexican food, but I've eaten there twice and the food was delicious. I also love the atmosphere. I would definately recommend it.

We ate there last September and it was good but not the best Mexican we ever had. We actually enjoyed their counter service place outside the pavilion more!
But it is beautiful inside and I would eat there again just to enjoy the ambience.

Won't eat at the inside restaurant ever again - last time was horrible & so was the service. Love the outside cantina - fantastic margaritas & quick food.

We have eaten at the San Angel Inn a couple of times and we are not going to go back again. Yes, the atmosphere is amazing and wonderful. I love the atmosphere. However, our meal last time was just awful. I ordered the nachos as my meal and when it arrived at our table the chips were burnt (black) and you could tell that it had been sitting there for a very long time-the cheese was hard and cold. I am not the type to complain about my meals so I didn't say anything to our waitress. I left the restaurant very hungry. I would recommend maybe going somewhere else. Although, some say that they have had a great meal there. Maybe it's just hit or miss??

DW and i eat at San Angel every trip. We never miss it. It is not your taco Bell type of Mexican food. The food is outstanding and so is the service. We already have adrs there for our next trip. I highly recommend the place. The atmosphere is also great.

We were there a couple weeks ago and loved it. We are big mexican food fans, and we'd always loved the atmosphere in the Mexican pavillion, so we'd been wanting to try it. If you look at the menu here on Info Central, you'll see the offerings are a little more exotic than your typical Mexican joint, but we thought it was well done. Give it a try!

Is the food comparable to say Azteca or Las Margaritas? Or worse?
Maybe I should cancel my ADR and try something else.....

The food is great. Very flavorful. You should leep the ADRS. As I said, we have probablt been there a dozen times or more. It is the kind of place, that if you don't have an adrs, you will not get a table. That would not happen if it wasn't worth it. Enjoy!!

I would have to vote that the food and service are ok, but not great. However, if you have never eaten there, I would do it at least once for the unbeatable ambience.

I ate there a few years ago and the food and service were ok. There are places in WDW that I like a lot better, though. I think it's worth going to only if you can get a table by the river. They stuck my party in a corner facing a wall so I didn't think the place was overly special. Tables are extremely close together.

The restaurant was recently expanded as well.

You should have complained. There is no excuse for cold, burnt food. We are going there in about 26 days. Can't wait.

Of all the places we have eaten at Epcot, San Angel Inn was our least favorite. Yes, the atmosphere inside is very nice but can be enjoyed without eating. The evening we were there, we waited forever for our table (we had ADRs). With toddlers in tow, we were all ready to pull our hair out by the time we finally were seated.
I don't believe that anyone enjoyed their food that night and the table service was slow as well. It seemed that the tables were so close to one another, it made it impossible for the wait staff to get to your table.
The Mexico pavilion is a nice place to stop, shop and cool off but I would pass on the food.

We love Mexican food, and the atmosphere there is magical. But, if our last visit is any indication, the service has gone downhill. Seemed like a bunch of kids with inadequate training and wanting in professionalism running the show.
Gf had pretty much had it with the place, yet we're going back next month anyway, for my sake, because I'm so fond of the setting, Mexican food in general, and their mango margarita. Also, we want to experience the new tequila bar in the pavillion.

This thread is why when we go to San Angel for the first time we are not using a TS credit on it so just to try it we are going for lunch and pay oop. I realize to each their own and a lot of postings should be taken somewhat lightly, but this one has me thinking. But if I can get a good Mango Margarita I will be happy.

DH and I ate there once, about 4 or 5 years ago, and we haven't gone back since.
The restaurant was only about a quarter full, and we were stuck at a table all they way back against the wall between the restaurant and the marketplace. Strike one.
My food looked kind of gross. It just looked like a shallow puddle of mucky goo, and had no flavor. Very bland and boring. DH wasn't thrilled with his, either. Strike two.
Service was almost non-existent. Our server was very hard to understand, and he was very slow and, well, not there very much. Strike three, they're out.
We've never made an effort to give it a second try. Just not worth our time or money.
We tried the CS place last year, but the food was also pretty bad, so we'll skip that from now on. I tried the highly regarded churros, and they were cold and hard. The meat in our entrees was fatty. Overall, it wasn't worth the CS credit. The beer was good, though.
