May or September
DH and I are planning a 2008 trip with our DS (will be 4 years old). Want to go in Sept for low crowds and value$$, but wonder if heat and humidity will wear out our little one quicker. Is May better weather wise? Is it that much more crowded in May to make it worth a Sept trip? Last Question - If we go with May, which is better - early May or late May? Thanks for your input!

Either way, for September or May humidity and the weather can always be iffy. Though, September there's always a chance for another "free dining," but it's also hurricane season. I would go with the first two weeks of may, to avoid any other kids getting out of school and dealing with any large crowds.

We've been the last 2 Mays and LOVE May. Each time it was very warm (around 90) but little to no humidity and no rain. It was almost perfect. My vote would be for May except if you want to gamble on Disney doing the free dining promotion again next year

We have never been in May but, we love September.
It is hot and humid but we usually adjust to that by the second day or so. It is not enough to slow us down at all.
Love Bugs are an issue in September. May too I think. They are usually not too big of a deal. Last September they were horrendous. We are keeping our fingers crossed it was a fluke and will not be any where as bad next month.
The crowds are low in September in the parks with little or no wait on rides. If Free Dining is offered again the table service restaurants will be very busy, so will some of the resorts. You never know if it will be offered until April or May. (I think)
Have a great time whenever you visit!

My husband and I went the first week of May in 2004 (right after I graduated from college ). The weather was gorgeous--warm, but not overly hot. We didn't have any difficulty with crowds at all. I would say they were on the lower end of moderate crowds. Most schools don't get out until late May/early June, so you should be in great shape if you get there as early in May as you can! If I weren't a teacher, we would certainly pick that time to go again.

I went last May (The 5th) and it was very hot and had two hour waits for the rides at Epcot. I go every September and while it is hot, it cools down at night with shorter lines and it's generally better. I'd go for September (This year, I'm going in September every weekend!).

We usually go in May. I take my son out of school the week prior to letting out in May since the last week is pretty uneventful for them. There are low crowds and decent weather. We were lucky enough to go in May and Sept. last year and had equally good times. Crowds were low on both visits. I will have to say that the heat was worse in Sept.
We were unable to go in May this year and I really felt disappointed when our normal travel week came around. On a happier note, we are going in Sept. and have the free dining for the first time!

IMHO, The first 2 weeks of May is the BEST time to visit Disney. The room rates are "regular" season rates, perfect weather, minimal crowds. Also, GREAT time for the water parks. Sept. is great for room rates "off season", VERY minimal crowds, possible dining deals. BOTH times are fabulous but i give the nod to early May.

In my opinion, May and September have similar weather and crowds. I've found both months to be quite hot and humid but the crowds are quite manageable and you can get more done in a shorter period of time - allowing you the time to return to your resort mid-day for some swimming and down time.
Both months fall in love bug season so you'll see these critters around.
If you choose May, I'd go as early in the month as possible. Schools begin to let out late May and crowds begin to increase.

We usually go in early May or late September every year. I do not think you can go wrong with either time. If the Free Dining really makes a big difference, i would wait and go in September.
