We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Artist Point. We arrived early enough to explore Wilderness Lodge and it is a real beauty. The lobby is magnificent, as are the grounds. We were seated promptly at the time of our ADR. From start to finish the service was attentive without making us feel rushed. We ordered the following:
DW -
Mussels Appetizer
Cedar Plank Salmon
Cobbler Dessert
DD - (Miss picky 10 yr old)
Our server had the kitchen prepare an iceburg lettuce salad with bacon bits and ranch dressing. She also had the kitchen make her a special "plain" grilled chicken with natural au jus and mashed potatoes instead of the normal side dish. She even cut the chicken up into bite sized pieces for her. She acted sort of like Mom and DD was thrilled. For dessert she had the childrens' Artist Pallet.
DS - (Mr. 12 yr old eats pretty much anything that's even semi-digestible, including things he might be better off not eating...)
Venison Spring Rolls Appetizer
Filet Mignon
Caramelized Peach Cake Dessert
Me -
Duck Confit Appetizer
Buffalo Sirloin Steak
Coffee Two Ways Dessert
Three Course Wine Flight
Of course, we all tried a litte of each others selections and it was all fantastic. I would have been more than satisfied had I ordered any one of them.
I have this problem. I always have every intention of eating something other than Filet Mignon when we go out and it's on the menu, but I can't seem to follow through. I shared that with our server and she politely informed me that I was having the buffalo. Medium rare at that, because that's how it's at its most tender and delicious best. I threw caution to the wind and didn't argue with her (especially in light of the fact that I knew DS would have a Filet in front of him and easily within reach!) Well... I am so glad I did. Buffalo is awesome. Like beef - only beefier, but not gamey. If I find buffalo on a menu again somewhere you do not want to get between me and it. The suggested wines were paired perfectly. I can't say enough good about our dining experience at Artist Point. I recommend it to anyone.
