Vero or Hilton Head?

DH would like to use some of our points for a week at the beach next summer. Any preference over Vero or Hilton Head? Are they hard to book?

I would vote for Hilton Head, but that is only because I grew up about 10 miles from Vero Beach.

Our family LOVES Vero. We have been to Hilton Head although not at the Disney resort so I cannot really compare the two. I do know that the Hilton Head resort is not on the beach so that was one of the reasons we chose Vero, since the Vero resort is right on the beach. Also, we like to pair our WDW trip with a beach trip and with Vero a short 90 minutes away it is perfect for us.

There are lots of fun things to do around the resort. The pool and waterslide are awesome. They have lots of organized games for kids like a water balloon toss, archery, basketball, boce ball, bingo, etc. There are other activites like crafts, a tea party and an un-birthday party that my kids just love. They also have a campfire with songs and games several nights a week. After the songs and games we roast marshmallows and make s'mores.

We haven't stayed at Hilton Head yet but we loved Vero. We stayed for the first time last September. There is a beautiful beach and lots of activities on site. There is not much in the surrounding town though.

We are trying Vero for the first time in June. We booked at the 7 month mark and had no trouble getting the dates we wanted. Last month, we decided, due to a change in the last day of school, to add one more day in the beginning of our trip and had no trouble adding the day. HOWEVER, my in-laws tried to add the same week as us, but were told nothing was available, no rooms, studios, or vilas. They did get on the waiting list in February, and were called last week and finally got in! So, I would thin that it could be hard to get reservations, depending on what kind of room and what time of year.

Our family would choose HHI every time. We have not stayed at Vero, but we did drive down and check it out on another trip. The Beach House is a very short distance with great ammenities for a day at the beach, and the seperation makes the resort more laid back and quiet.
