when to go and which hotel?

We have an entirely free calendar from around May 25 through labor day. When is the best time (aka least crowded) to go? Is there a crowd calendar available? I was thinking last week in May or first two weeks of June were my best bets. And which hotel - Candy Cane Inn or the Park Place Inn?

We love the Candy Cane. We have always stayed there during our visits. We have been the middle of July and loved the weather. Crowds were not bad at all.

I would shoot for weekdays rather than weekends. Is certainly avoid Memorial Day weekend. I haven't stayed at candy cane inn but have heard nothing but good things about them. We've stayed at the Cortona inn several times. It's right across from the Disneyland parking lot and it's an easy walk to get on the free shuttles there. Just another idea.

Memorial day weekend is pretty bad but if you can go the weekdays prior, that is the best time. First week of June is second best option. Avoid June 15-August 15. Last two weeks of August are good.

We had a very enjoyable stay during the first week of June last year. The only crowds to speak of were the evenings that Grad Nights were held.

I've stayed at both Candy Cane and Park Place Inn and I consider them comparable. Candy Cane's pool area is more appealing if that is important to you. Never stayed at Park Vue.

If you go the last week of August, away from Labor Day, you'll have a pretty good visit. The crowds will be down as kids in Cali go back to school mid-August. If you hit the weekdays, that should give you short lines and manageable crowds. It will be warm, of course, but you're from the East Coast so you can kiss that humidity goodbye for your vacation.
