    Default too late for a room request?

    hi guys. so... we're 2 weeks from our trip. planning to use online check-in. can i make a room request then? or should i make a room request now via email? (we just thought we should try for a room in a section that has been refurbed)

    appreciate your advice

    It's not too late, but you can't make room requests by email. And you can't make room location requests thru online check-in. You need to call and ask that your request be noted on your reservation. One exception - if you used a travel agent, you have to go through them.

    I would call Disney reservations and have your request added to your reservation. (Or, if you booked through a Travel Agent, contact them to have it added).

    When you check-in online, there isn't really any place for requests, just some "standard" checkboxes, like high floor, ground floor, etc.

    Just adding --

    We have had VERY good luck calling the day before we arrive, and asking to speak with whoever is in charge of room assignments... there are one or two specific CM's who do this a day or two out from your arrival.

    When I speak with them, I tell them what we are looking for... when we're at CBR, we want nothing more than a room in Jamaica, preferably in one of two particular bldgs, but I always tell them Jamaica is the focus, and anything on top of that is wonderful. When I call re: AKL, it's more just a section of rooms or a particular floor/trail... and every time, they are VERY accomodating, they write down specifically what I've asked for, and it's notated on the reservaton, as well. And maybe we've just gotten lucky, but we've always had our requests granted -- when we check in (we NEVER do online check in for this exact reason) we reiterate the phone call & the request, also stating we know nothing was guaranteed but we appreciate the help -- and the CM is always wonderful about getting us to where we were looking to be.

    So, be sure to call the main desk a day or two before you leave, and ask for whoever is doing the room assignments... it can't hurt! Good luck, and have a great trip!!

    All calls go to a call center... so I can't guess who you're talking to... what number are you calling?

    I call the resort number, which gets me the call center... but when I tell them who I would like to talk to, they transfer me to the CM in charge of the rooms at that particular resort... and I know I am at the resort, as I can hear the checking in going on in the background, and the accents of the CM match the resort. (okay, usually... )

    I have never failed to be connected in this way, and the advice was given to me by someone here... and it's never failed to work for us.

    (in fact, on our recent trip, I called AKL the day we were arriving to inquire about getting a room in a certain area... we were supposed to be at Pop that first night, transferring over to AKL the next morning. I asked the CM after the fact about checking to see if AKL had any availability THAT night, so we wouldn't have to move, and she transferred me to another CM who got us right in for that night, easy peasy... ... and I know I was at AKL, as I could hear the background of the lobby and other CM's helping guests... so it must be that "general questions" go to the call center, but specific questions get transferred to the resort. Just guessing....)
