    Default Stick with polynesian?

Just booked trip to Poly with family (kids 14 and 12). Decided to try Polynesian over the Boardwalk. Read some not so great reviews on trip advisor that rooms were in need of refurbishment and dirty. aware location is great, but will i be disappointed in state of the rooms and grounds? j

Negative reviews are scary, but I try to keep in mind that people with something bad to say are always so much more vocal than those who were completely pleased with every aspect of their stay. I love the Polynesian, have never had a bad experience or dirty/shabby room, and I think it's a great choice. I would definitely stick with it, and I hope you are not disappointed.

...and, what one person thinks is "shabby" is another persons palace! I've read bad reviews about every resort on property; we have stayed at several and they have all be wonderful!

We've stayed at various longhouses at the Polynesian Resort and never have seen a room that needs refurb.

I think you'll be happy anywhere in the Polynesian Resort.

If you have a standard-view room, I would request Rarotonga as it's a "stone's throw" from the Great Ceremonial House (no stone throwing, please!). Tahiti has very little foot traffic and it's close to the walkway to the TTC. Tokelau is near the middle of things and the elliptical pool.

See my signature. I wouldn't keep going back to a shabby place. We obviously love it. Go and enjoy, you'll have a great time.

The Poly, in my family's eyes, is the nicest resort on property. We love it. We've stayed several times over the years is various Longhouses. I can't think of one stay where I felt anything was shabby or need to be updated. We've stayed at just about every resort on property, including GF, and nothing tops the Poly for us.

It's a beautiful resort, and a fantastic location. We love the theme and the feel of it. The rooms are very spacious and the staff is wonderful. Don't change your reservation!

those reviews are so sketchy! I've read AWFUL reviews of virtually every resort and restaurant at Dinsey, and never had a bad experience. Make yourself feel better - read all the one star reviews of the Boardwalk ;-)

The BEST stay we ever had at Disney was a split stay between BWI and Poly. We enjoyed everything that both these resorts had to offer us. They both have great locations, pools and resort areas. LOVED watching Wishes from the beach. But we do prefer Epcot area and after this trip we became DVC members with BWV as our home resort.

As for the negative reviews, I have always found that it is usually only the folks who want to vent that do the reviews.

We've only been lucky enough to stay at the Poly once, but it is by far our favorite of the resorts we've stayed at. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Bad news travels faster and farther than good news! Some poeple live to complain.

I would like to be a fly on the wall on some of these reviewers vacations. Chances are a lot of the time they are the problem!

    Enjoy the Poly!

I like to look at the reviews overall, how they're currently trending, and how old they are. Recent reviews are more valuable to me. I also expect that every place is going to have some bad reviews; I don't worry too much about it until the reviews really lean towards the bad.

We've stayed at the Poly about 6 times and never had a bad experience. Never once found our room dirty...it was always immaculate. This is our favorite resort and I'm sure it will be yours also. Have a great trip.

This is our 9th trip to the poly. We love it there. Have we had some small issues, yes, but I think you can have small issues at any resort. I also believe all the rooms were updated a couple of years ago with flat screen TV's etc. I just love the atmosphere and the monorail so for us we love it!

Another vote for the Poly, my favorite resort. Sadly, since becoming DVC members, we don't stay there anymore cause it uses up too many points.

Your son will LOVE the volcano slide.
