Sweet e-mail offer for bonus DVC points

Got an e-mail from DVC today that offered 20 extra vacation points per 100 purchased at AKL or Aulani for the life of the contract. We can't take advantage of it but it sounds like a good deal for someone thinking of adding on at one of those resorts. Amounts to at least $2,500 right now (AKL is selling at $125 per point, going up to $130 on April 24).

The offer is good until June 15.

I got the same e-mail today as well. I also had a phone call from DVC last week about a promo. Wonder if it was related?

I think it's a good deal for Aulani but not for AKL. Current resales there are running $79-$80 per point which IMHO would be the better deal. Unless DVC is going to put more restrictions on resale perks I think they're going to have a hard time with existing resorts in this economy.

Anyone know if this deal is just for current DVC members? Or is it also valid for new members?

If is being advertised as their 20th Anniversary special and is open to everyone.

I agree with VWL Mom onn this one. A 100 point add on would be $12,500. With the 20 point offer, this would work out to about $104 per point. That is a $25/point premium versus buying resale - pretty pricy for the extra benefits of a "direct from DVC" purchase.
